I did the best thing for my horse...

My 11 year old thoroughbred had a fall back in april and she was unable to put weight on her left hind for two weeks and was still showing signs of discomfort a month and a half after it happened. She was unable to carry a rider happily and I decided it was in her best interest to give her back to the lady who gave her to me ( that was the arrangement we had if she did'nt work out) So my sweet sweet mare is know a retired pasture pet where she has green green grass up to her belly to eat and her main focus is getting fat :). I love and miss her but know that she is in a great place for as long as she lives

That must be hard but kudos to you for putting your mare first I am sure she is happy out in the pasture.

You are never better than anyone. Every rider has skills they need to improve. The only one you must compare yourself with, is you.

It's always hard giving back a good horse. But you put your horses needs first and that's something that only a true horsewoman would could do. At least you know she's at a good ranch where she'll be happy with all the green grass she could ever eat

The art of riding is to keep the horse between the ground and the rider
