I didn't have my boots on - Trip to the ER

I went out to the barn to give Biscuit a bath and rasp his hooves. Got out there and pulled him up to the wash rack. I realized I'd left all the grooming/hoof tools in the trailer at home. So I was just going to give The Biscuit a good scrubby bath and whiten that mane and tail. I proceeded to soak his tail in Mrs. Stewart's Blueing and his mane, too. Then I put OxyClean in them to remove any stains.

My boy was looking like a million bucks. I had on Crock sandals and my boots were in the car - I didn't want to get them wet. He was being such a good boy so I let him graze on some clover while he dried. He has long hair under his jaw so I was going to trim him up with clippers. He was just fine with that....til another boarder drove down the road by the barn. As soon as her truck hit the rocks it made a loud racket and he startled and jump right on my right foot.

Gaaaaa it immediately swelled up and was BLUE. I took this picture with my phone and texted it to my cousin who is the director of an ER. I managed to get Biscuit down to his paddock and drive myself to the ER. My cousin and her hubby were there (they are my riding buddies) and got an exray. Possible slight crack in one bone and was told I was a REAL cowgirl as I had a set of spurs on my heel that were huge. LOL I already knew that. My foot is stiff as a board but doesn't really hurt right now.

What an idiot....I will never go without my boots again....

Ack!!! No good! Thankfully you didn't get cut or worse!
I went out in the field today to check the horses... In flip flops!!!
All I could think about was that one girls foot. Mind you mine are barefoot but it was sooo stupid. Thanks for the reminder, hope you get healed up quick!

    And yep! He looks lovely!

Yep - Biscuit looked like a million bucks and for that I am glad!!! My cousin's hubby was giving me a hard time about it but it was nice to have them there. He is my riding buddy on most rides and is just a hoot. I won't make that mistake again because this MIGHT cut into my riding time and that is just wrong!!

The morning of my senior prom last year hunter stepped on my foot and it hurt so bad I thought I broke it. It was my right foot and I sucked it up to drive like you had to, and cried halfway there. After x-rays, no breaks but I was sent home on crutches. I DID have on my boots that day! It never really did bruise but hurt and was extremely tender for a few weeks. Boots don't always save you unfortunately! Hoping for a quick recovery for your foot! And biscuit looks gorgeous despite your accident! :)

Thanks for the good wishes. It hurt like the dickens for a few minutes and then was just numb!!!

It happened around 3:40 PM and it is nearly 10:00 and it isn't hurting and I haven't taken anything for pain. I've kept it elevated so hoping it isn't too bad tomorrow. It is scraped pretty bad and is stiff when I lift it forward but other than that - I am just fine. Got a tetanus shot that they said would make my arm sore tomorrow. Walking is a little slow but that will just remind me to WEAR MY BOOTS!!
