I'd lay odds that your mother either doesn't have the funds to continue to pay for these horses, or doesn't wish to. Either way, unless you can come up with a way to pay completely for this horse's board, feeding, farrier and vet care on your own, it really is unfair to ask your mother to continue to do it.
Adults sometimes have to make hard decisions that kids don't understand. You're seeing this from only your own point of view. What's your mother's story on why she wants/needs the horses sold?
I agree with this.
Some times parents have to make decisions that are based on the needs of the whole families versus the wants of some.
