I FELL OFF! WOO! [stories here] :D :D

Ok. We were cantering and the horse I was own (stables horse) saw my instructors crop and did a little dance. I went all the way to the left and pulled my self to the right (he was still cantering mind you) and then he did the little dance/jump thing again and I flipped right off his back and a meter in the air my instructor said I was smiling on the way down.. lol!
Oh and I didn't hurt myself when I landed, landed on my back!
Because I wasn't tense I landed like a feather my instructor said and she said that it was the best fall she had seen from a kid in years because they tense up.

First fall, and I am so glad I have it over and done with, few.

Tell your stories here! :P

I'll just copy this from another thread I wrote it in.

I managed to hang on for a while but that just scared him, so I let go but my foot was still in the stirrup and he dragged me along the road on my back. I had a short t-shirt on as well ... not a pretty sight.
I fell off him many times after that from him spooking, but my riding's improved so much and I have a much better super glue on my bum now (as my instructor says)! So I should be thanking him really.

I had a bad fall before Christmas last year. I was doing indoor jumping on Meg. She suddenly decided she didn't like the look of the rainbow filler that was in the centre of the jump. She put in a dirty stop and ran to the side. Well of course I flew through the air and landed on the floor with a bump.
I got up and everyone started laughing, my jods had ripped completely across my bottom, thus showing my undies. When I went to pull my jods back across to try to regain some of my dignity, I felt something incredibly wet.
Little had I realised I'd landed on the jump cup, which was metal and it had split my bum cheek from once side to the other. It was that deep one side of my bum was just hanging. I had to have 13 large stitches and loads of steri-strips to try and hold it back in place. I couldn't sit down for almost 8 weeks, so had to kneel at the dinner table for christmas dinner. It was 3 months before I could get back in the saddle.
Its a shame really as we were doing well, but now I've kind of dropped from the competing scene. Who knows, I could start again soon. Just hopefully wont fall off so bad again.

OUCH MeggyMoo!!!

I have a few stories, but the most memorable is probably the time I forgot to cinch my saddle. We had just gotten my mare and decided to trailer out for a trail ride. I got on and she took off. There was no stopping her. At the time we only had two horses so our kids brought their bikes. My hubby and daughter were going to take turns on her horse. Well, my husband jumped on her bike and tried to follow (too funny... here's a 6'1" guy trying to peddle like crazy on a 9-yr-old's bike). He finally gave up and told my daughter to follow on her horse. By the time she caught up to me I was on the ground and my mare was nowhere to be seen. We had run up to a ravine with a drop of about 4 feet and she cut a hard left. The saddle finally gave up at that point. It ended up underneath her and I was eating dirt. Up until that point I had been successfully balancing as the saddle wobbled from side to side on her back. She did come back to be by her barn buddy after she had successfully bucked the saddle off. I was sore and embarrassed but fine. Whew!!

Ouch....best fall I ever had ( really I don't judge my falls but there been a lot ), I had a morab mare name muffin who desided to duck the curbchain and run, from her transition from a trot to a canter she cought her hoof on a large vine, she was one of the best mare i've ever had, as we were both going down just bucked me off to the side so she wouldn't land on me (my leg's and pelvis could of been broken if not) I only ended up knocking my self out on that one

My story isn't as good as y'alls, but here goes. I was about 9 or 10 years old, and just learning to jump. So I was taking lessons then, and was on a young QuAb. So I was practicing, and my instructor told me which jumps to jump. I was cantering and was about the miss one, so instead of going and turning around, I decided to make a sharp turn that the horse didn't expect. She was very softmouthed, so my sudden jerk and her turn faster than my brain could catch up with my actions so I flew off. It wasn't that bad though, I landed on sand and then just got back on and tried over again.

The worst fall I had was when I was a kid about 13 or so my horse reared up and fell on top of me. He wouldn't get up for love nor money. My dad finally had to come out (after hearing me screaming) and used a 2x4 on the duffus till he rolled off of me. Now that I am an old fart it seems falling is a bit more of a trauma. I did fell from a 16h thoroughbred who spooked I sort of rolled off she rolled too. Not on top of me this time but I fell hard enough to chip a tooth. Same horse did the cinch not tight enough trick I went down saddle went under horse. Thank God she was gentle enough not to freak out to bad at the saddle hanging under her belly and start kicking at me and the saddle. I used to fall more but it was usually because of something stupid on my part. Live and learn

I played ping pong with oack trees, and my body was the ball. It hurt and almost ended my riding "career" right about there. But, my then g/f (now wife) got me going again in like 2 weeks.

The worst fall I had was when I was jumping ( around 3ft) this horse that we were thinking of buying. I came to a double fence and the horse jumped the first one ok, but then jumped the second one really strongly, so this threw me off balance, and when he landed, I got jolted forward onto his neck and just plopped of the side. Then the stirrup tread went flying through the air and landed next to me  It seemed to happen in slow motion, becasue all AI could see when I was falling off was the ground, and the horses legs cantering along . I fell off and landed on my back, then did a few rolls when I hit the ground. So I suppose some people could say, 'I went out the side door' I couldn't stand up and sit down for the next week or so, and the horse wasn't small either, he was 16.2hh!!! It hurt soooo much

I have only fallen off a horse once, and it was a mini!( ) lol
My friend and I were riding the mini bareback on a hill (stupid) and my friend was leading me and the pony (rose) trotted down the hill and I felt myself falling and I was like "oh well!" and so I let myself fall and I hear "Crack!" of my bones!! Lol nothing broken or anything, nothing hurt either, it was quite fun!! Lol!
