    I got my DIAGONALS today.

I thought I should maybe put Peanut on a little exercise plan, she's getting those nice fat pockets on her shoulders (ICK!) So I went out into my arena-with-no-fence to just do some trotting and loping with her in the soft dirt.
Well, while doing a circle, I was like, "Hm. I wonder what diagonal I'm on..." I looked down and was on the wrong one! Eeeek! So, I spent 2 minutes trying to get on the right one, with no luck.

So, I shrugged and moved on to some figure 8's. I was determined to be on the right diagonal, well well well! It clicked!

When I was in the centre of my figure 8, I'd sit down for two steps and rise with the second (I was counting out loud) and looked down to find myself on the right diagonal!! EEEEEEK! I think Peanut was mad at me cause I was doing so many figure 8's and yelling "YAY!" everytime I found myself on the right diagonal! I even did big serpentines and got my diagonals!!!!

I'm sorry... I just had to get that out.

:)...you didn't sit two beats, you only sat one since you started posting again at the "second" beat.

COngrats though; the diagonals seem to be the hardest for people to figure out. NOw the next step is to be ablet o "feel" your horse so you can start int he correct diagonal without looking :). For example, on my boy I can always get the diagonal when tracking left without looking but not as yet when tracking right. He has a slight diffrence when tracking left as that is his stiff side so the "bounce" is more pronounced. When I change to the right and trot off, I feel that harder bounce step and know to begin posting on the next step...it works mabe 60% of the time now.

    Congratulations!
When I find a new barn to take lessons at I'm hoping that I will get those darn diagonals down as well. They can be quite tricky.

I can't take lessons (done available in my area) so I just have to figure all of the technical stuff out on my own :P
