Don't you just love it when everything goes right? :D

Today I rode on Dixie, a beautiful but stubborn and often very lazy horse (a good girl at heart though :)) and she did AMAZINGLY! The other girl in my lesson was riding Pita and he wasn't bad either, Dixie was forward and when she slowed down gentle use of whip was enough to get her back up again! We went so far as to, on my FIRST ask for canter, she leaped straight into it and had to be convinced to stop, after a whole lap of the arena without any questions! :D

Afterwards we decided to do some low jumping, and Dixie didn't hesitate too much, cat-leap over it OR duck out once, she went straight for the middle and we made it over happily almost every time (except when she did this huge leap and I fell onto her neck.) All of this without rushing at it, trot, controlled canter, leap!

Wow, it just feels amazing and puts this huge smile on your face when it all comes together! I'm still grinning inside.

Who else did well recently?

It really does! I was so happy - shows I have actually improved quite a bit!

I was especially happy with the canter because I can have problems with it, but today my legs were on, butt glued to the saddle, moving with the horse, and Dixie really put in some effort and stretched out too!

Indeed :) and yes, very stubborn and usually very lazy, unless she's following someone else - but just speeding up because someone's in front is a bad habit and I don't like to let her do that too much.

Oooh, two good rides a in row :) Genny's outline roundness is getting much better, and today her impulsion was fantastic, I didn't have a camera or a spotter but I do use her shadow for help (definitely could feel it, too); big steps with a nice back and the stretchy frame! Only complaint is that it was difficult to sit the paces I let her fly, mostly just how it is. She was so good I cut the session short and let her have a thorough free walk, sponge bath, walk in-hand, and let her go out to pasture early. And bit my tongue when she had a generous, well-deserved roll in the dirt ;)
