And just because you can ride does not mean that the horse would not act up, or someone else run their horse into yours, gosh who knows. There are so many things that could happen in a situation like that. Would be different if you were the only one there.
yea I understood why I was just stating I hate being lead lol and my horse did spook but only because someone threw a giant stick right past her freakin face lol and she didnt do anything bad just a little jump. Another thing I thought was funny was every time the horse would look at something the girl would be like "shhh its ok girl shhhhh" like a ton lol

I also have a daughter that will be 13 in October. She/we have 5 horses on property and pics of her on 3 of them, but that does not mean she has the ability to ride any of them alone.

I agree with countrylove in the fact that you wanted to ride a different horse and got to, but not under YOUR desired way and that comes off showing your age and inexperience.

When you get older and more seasoned around horses then you will understand the dangers and responsibility of going on someone's word rather than seeing it personally to know someone's ability to handle YOUR horse.

I'm thinking here (doesn't happen too often, so pay attention lol!) that you were lead around for:
1: insurance purposes
2: they didn't know you from Adam
3: if they let you ride on your own all the other kids there that couldn't ride would want to ride on their own also

So you didn't like that. That's the way of the world sometimes and you have to roll with it. Life's a lemon, you either make lemonade or you squeeze the lemon juice in the eyes if your enemies......I do both:)

Think of it as prep for becoming an adult. As an adult I do more things that I can remember that "I do not want to". Gah!

I have to say, at your age I was mowing lawns and putting it in my savings account to afford my first horse. I was fortunate be put on a horse. All of my experiences at that age were (except for a handful of lessons) on half broke drafts that nearly killed me. I would have been thrilled to be invited to a horse event of any sort, and I soaked up info like a sponge.
If you showed up at my farm with over confidence, expecting to be put on a horse you've never seen before and allowed to ride alone while all the other kids got led, you wouldn't be riding anything for long.
