    I miss Chance. :(

Some of you may already know that my mare Chance, had been up for sale. Well in the end, I had to give her away due to only having a very short amount of time for her to go and her still being slightly troublesome. I contacted one of her old owners from a few years back (not the ones I got her from, wouldnt give chance back to her in a million years) & turns out she was very excited and happy to take her back. Im glad it was someone that knew all of Chances issues and how to deal with them and I know Chance will be very well looked after with her. I've been in regular contact with the new owners and Chance has been behaving very well & it turns out that she is only kept 10 minutes drive away from my boyfriends house and they have said im welcome to come see her whenever I want. :)

Only problem is now. Im not sure what to do with myself :( I've been used to having a horse to at least just look after and ride for the 8 years of my riding life. Now I don't & im completely lost... I wont be getting another horse until at least the summer, when I have a secure job & enough money. But until then I don't know what to do.. moping around the house missing Chance isnt doing me any good :/ suggestions?

A friend of mine was in the exact same situation a year or two ago when she gave her horse away. She started taking lessons on another womans horse a couple times a week, in order to fill the gap. She is also considering part boarding a horse.

Just be careful when you start looking for a new horse. The friend I mentioned earlier ended up buying an OTTB. And because she didn't factor in vet bills she had to give her back to the old owners. I'm not saying that this will happen, I just do want to see this happen to anyone ever again, it broke her heart, and mine as well. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

Another horse will capture your heart and you will love it just as much as Chance :) Maybe you'll even change its life for the better. It's hard being (for lack of better words) a stepping stone in a horse's life, but the important thing is they are being cared for the loved as much as you did :)

    Big hugs <3

Don't get too down, there is always going to be a hole where Chance once was in your life but there are always going to me more horses who need and want your love and care!

Until you can have another horse, see if anyone around your area wants a little help with their horse. Its a great free way to get a ride once or twice a week, and I'm sure the horses owner won't object to you going and saying hi to the horse in the field every so often!

Took me ages to get back into the swing of things when Patch, a mare I was looking after, was sold completly out of the blue. She was the first horse I actually had a bond with and I still think about her every day :'(

You've received so many excellent replies - First, I'm sooo happy that Chance is only 10 min. Away from your boyfriend's! How wonderful, as it could be another state or something.....
I agree that this summer when you get another horse, it will help fill the gap and ache in your heart, and of course there will always be that special place just for Chance. Why not compile a neat photo album and put little captions under each picture with any little cute/memorable/funny things related to it? It would be something you could do as your heart is mending, and hopefully bring a little smile.....
Many hugs coming your way! :)

Aw thank you so much everyone! Put a smile on my face reading these replies :)

I was thinking about going back to doing volunteer work at the riding school I used to help out at a few years ago to help keep my mind off it.

& also, when I do end up getting a new horse I was considering getting a youngster off the new forest sales as a project type thing. Just something to bring on myself so all the work put into it is my own. Would be nice to have a horse/pony that doesnt have bad habits taught by previous owners etc.

Why don't you maybe take riding lessons every once in a while or work at the barn?before I got my horse I took lessons once a week but all the other days I was down at the barn looking after other peoples horses:)
