Exclamation I need you opinion and advice. Looking for a rider...

Short intro (you can skip to the problem):
    -2 horses:
Mare 14 yo, holsteiner, 16hands, great to ride, well broke, was a showjumper before, now just trails, healthy, but can cause problems if she is injured and you came with something do clean it. Sometimes nervous, horse with a lot of go, but can be stop easily. Needs a soft hand.

Gelding 6yo, pony, 12hands, rescue horse, foundered, respect problems with new people. Has very strict diet and needs working with somebody everyday. Very smart and more whoa. Not scared easily, lunges okay, not ridden-foundered.

    PROBLEM
I'm going to college in 1,5 year. My mom can't work with my horses more than basic things, neither tell if a horse needs a vet or not. I wish that I'll be able to drive everyday to college (100miles everyday), but even that way I'll be at home only in the evenings.
I need someone to keep eye on my horses, especially on pony. Someone to tell my mom: call a vet, it's serious. Or I can handle this, it's just a scratch.

I'm thinking about going to the club I used to ride and ask my extrainer to suggest me few people that would be able to do things I need. I know I stilll have time, but I want this people to know my horses very good and that I can know they will they care of my horses.

Do you think I could trade riding once/twice a week for thorough examination twice a week? And coming in the emergency?

Is this a good idea? Any other suggestions?
Please help, because I really feel more horrible everyday, about this college thing. I don't want to leave my horses.

I think it's a very good idea. Just be careful and work with the person you choose closely for sometime to be sure he/she knows how to ride and cares about the horse well-being.

BTW, I did take care of other people horses for free and I could ride their horses in return.

I'm happy that you think it's a good idea :) I will definitely watch him/her closely for few months, I have no plans about leaving him/her alone with my horses until I won't trust them completly.

Just one more question. Do you think I should go there and talk to my trainer, ask her to suggest somebody, or should I search for a rider (or two...) without her help, maybe just put a paper with informations on a visible place for anyone interested to contact me?

I'd talk to trainer first. I know border at the barn I take lessons in asked my trainer to find someone to ride her mare (it happened in my presence so that's how I know about it ), and the trainer said she'll let her working students ride the horse.

I suggest the trainer, they might be able to suggest it to people who might not actively be in the market but might want to do it!

My once my instructor gets back I am going to try out this pony who hasn't been advertised as a lease, but his owner does want some one else riding him, and it would be beneficial to me, the owner and my instructor(she is currently the one exercising him, and mentioned him to me last week)
