Personaly I wont send anything untill the Cheque has cleared.
3 days is nothing, heck if the cheque may have only just gotten there, she still needs time to cash the cheque and then get to a post office or organise a courier.

If you started hassling me after 3 days i'd send your cheque back to you as I would assume you were the scammer, one scam out there is for people to send fake cheques or to send real cheques from closed accounts or even to send a cheque that they know will bounce and if the buyer has already sent the item there is no way of actualy getting your money back

Agree totally Faye-and several others......try to actually COMMUNICATE WITH THE SELLER rather than posting here. Make sure she got the check, ask her when she will ship the saddle. I have sold many things and will NOT ship until the check CLEARS my bank, which can take several days, even with cashiers checks since those can be counterfeit these days.

OP-get a grip. Get in touch with the seller. ASK them-make NO accusations at all. Otherwise, if it were me, I would give you back your money and send you packing. CL is typically a more local sight-usually there is cash and pick up.....that probably is what she had in mind.

I have to agree. If you sent it snail mail, it can take a lot longer then 3 days, and nothing gets processed on Sundays. So you have maybe 2 days mail time. Again we are lacking info on how you sent it and what kind of check it is. If it was a personal check, once the seller gets it, they may wait to see if it clears before shipping the item. I think you need to take a breathe and give it more time.

I alaways wait for a check to clear before shipping. You say 2-3 days for it to get there, plus another 3-5 for it to clear. Simmer down op, I doubt your getting scammed.

OP - did you contact the seller before you freaked out?

If you sent it USPS to another state via regular mail (not certified or overnight or anything) always plan on at least 5 days. The usps has gone downhill significantly in the last few years. They are in no hurry to deliver mail if it even gets delivered. Then another week for the check to clear. I would have figured out how to get paypal working, much faster.

As a compulsive Craigslist shopper, I must advise to try to only deal locally. By locally, I mean how far are you willing to drive. I have gone out of state a few times when I REALLY wanted something. There are too many scams and bad people on CL and it saves a lot of hurt to deal locally. Another way to protect yourself is to meet at a neutral location like Walmart or some other landmark. If you must go pick it up at their house, take someone else with you and try to not go in the house. Those are just a few of my Craigslist Safety Rules.

I hope everything works out for you.

Thank you all for your help.

I did talk (through phone) to her and she did say that she won't take down the ads until she received the payment, which she did today.

She put up the ad on Thursday and we sent the check on Friday. Which at first I was confused but it was cleared up.

She marked the ads as sold and then she said I should get my saddle 6 days, hopefully.

Thank you for your help. When I get a panic I don't really make much sense and I'm sorry for that. Please don't take it personal if I offended you!

Just another thought that nobody mentioned....sometimes people have more than one of the same saddle to sell. I have many people selling tack on CL, over and over...like using CL as their own personal store. Just a thought.

Glad it was sorted out :)

Don't panic like that though.. panicking doesn't help the situation. Slowing down and thinking things through, and calmly communicating with the seller will help you.

Pics of the saddle on your horse when you first use it? :)
