I Think Its Funny

How if you have a nice horse or tack or anything people think your spoiled and want to bring you down. Maybe you worked your butt off to afford that stuff, or maybe your parents bought it. Either way it is of no concern to others and shouldn't bother them. My random thought of the day.... in other words, worry about yourself.

Not really me, though at 4H I got dirty looks for having a nice horse and at NBhA shows with the same horse she's not the most competitive so I got wrote off. Seeing both sides it gets to me when people whine about others having nice things and them not. Life is what you make of it, and if your always worried about what someone else has and you don't well quite frankly its not much of a life.

I strongly agree ;).
I definitely think people need to be more thankful for what they have.
I don't have the nicest tack in the world, but then I think, there's a little girl out there that would KILL to have a horse, and that makes me all the more thankful for what I have. Aaand, no matter how nice of stuff you have, it's always going to seem like there's someone with better stuff, so there's no point in always wanting wanting wanting!!

Every horse is an angel... They just don't need wings to soar!

It drives me INSANE when people turn their noses up at me because I have nice tack and good horses. But that's my life. I chose to cut costs and not have new cars and all that "fun" stuff that other people had. I chose to make sacrifices so that I could live the lifestyle that I wanted. With nice horses and expensive tack. The only reason anyone ever has anything to say about it is because they're jealous. Because my DH works his tail off so I can be a stay at home barn bum... But its not only the way we CHOOSE to live, its a lifestyle that I want my daughter to experience. If you don't like expensive tack and nice horses, don't own them. Its pretty simple. I don't drive a BMW, I drive the finest and most handsome QH gelding around. Who are they to judge? You know what I mean?

Sorry for the little rant. This is so fresh in my mind, as a friend's friend came over today and was going on and on about the money I wasted on my horses because I paid for their papers and their breed name, rather then the horse it self... I'm like whoa buddy! I love every inch of these horses, and none of the money I spent was wasted. The only reason I don't have a grade horse is because of genetic disorders that I can't trace or look out for because I don't know where they came from. Other then that I don't really care. My lesson horse is a grade horse- complete All American. And I love him to pieces. To each their own I guess

You know I was actually pondering something like this recently. As I listened to my crappy car that needs a new exhaust thinking I just bought a really nice horse and I'm driving a piece of junk, I have two awesomely bred barrel prospects and yet my car sounds like its dying. I did get the transmission rebuilt though! Just havent got that exhaust pipe fixed yet, that money went to a cute weanling with bloodlines I couldn't pass up for the price. Maybe next week....

Up until a year ago I drove a 1992 volvo 240 with 220k miles on it. I drove it because it was reliable and a good car, and why buy a new one if I don't need a new one? I finally retired the old girl and got me a Subaru Outback that I LOVE! But all those years of not having a car payment helped my horse fund significantly. And helped me pay for a very expensive colic surgery last month :)

Mine is a 1993. It doesn't have many miles and has been babied, its not a bad car just not the nicest. Its my first car and great on gas I'm going to keep it going as long as I can.

I'm the opposite. I dislike it when people stick up their noses when I have an average (to others, to me my mare is gold) and hand-me down tack. Happens quite a bit, specially back when I was around an English barn :/ I'd get the snottiest looks from the people in the clean white saddle pads and beautiful gleaning leather saddles and their 16 hand horses.

Not saying all people are like that, but it does go both ways.
SarahAnn, Duren and demonwolfmoon like this.
