im getting a new horse :)

oo im so excited!!

a friend of mines brother owns this lovely chestnut tb mare. shes so pretty with her flaxen mane and tail. every time i go there i drool over her and drop hints at wanting to buy her. the first time they said they were thinking about selling her they said they wanted $2500 for her which i thought was a bit much for her so i passed. then today they ask me if im still interested because they really want to sell her (they need the money quick) so they had dropped her price to $1500. i said 'how about $1000?' thinking he would say no. he didnt say much and then he rang me after we had left and said if i want her i can have her for $1000

i wasnt sure if i had heard him right at first lol i thought he wasnt keen but maybe he just wanted some time to think about it. he did buy her only 6 months ago for $2000 so he isnt even getting his money back on her. but that means i get to have her so im happy

i wanted to get some pics today when we were there but due to me a) running over my expensive digital camera & b) dropping and busting the spare camera i have nothing to take photos with at the moment  ill be sure to get some pics soon though

i just had to share because im all over the place excited

Thats great Jazzy, chestnut and flaxen sounds beautiful. Sounds like you need one of those heavy duty, wrapped in rubber camo cameras
Look forward to seeing the photos when you get them.
What her name? or are you just going to call her bargain?

vida - i sure do need one of those heavy duty cameras.
she is a little sun bleached at the moment because she hasnt been rugged but with some cover up and some mollasses in her feed she should darken up and then the contrast will be even prettier :) im in love lol

lol a bargain she is. she doesnt have a stable name though really. the people who had her before this guy just called her 'miss' but she doesnt respond to it even though theyve been calling her that anyways. her racing name is miss papal. her daddy was an imported stallion from the U.S. but i cant remember his name off hand. im going to do a name thread for name ideas :)

appy - i think possum will be less than impressed. shes a mummys girl and she is going to have to learn to share now. possum isnt really the sharing type lol but im sure jarred will appreciate her he does like the ladies lol

gypsy - yup! sometimes its all just about being in the right place at the right time

jubilee - thank you ;)

ill try and get some pics soon. i got a couple on my phone today but now i cant find the stupid cord to attach the phone to the computer. i have the worst luck with technology lol

i went and rode her today and shes a bit of a handful lol i think its mainly due to the fact that shes is on workhorse feed but isnt really getting worked. and shes fat lol seriously the fattest tb i have ever seen hehe she had lots of sillies to get out. you can tell she hasnt had much work since she came off the track. they did tell me that though.

she has no idea about yielding or anything so ive got my work cut out for me. i guess there will be a thread about that too lol

but i have bought her!!! although she was silly today she wasnt nasty. you could feel it was all just energy and a lack of education which is all easily fixed.

because she had so many beans i decided to lunge her to see all her gaits both ways. OMG she was brilliant. i took the reins off and put the stirrups up and asked her to move out to see how she would lunge. she trotted off and basically lunged herself. i stood there in the middle while she trotted for a couple of minutes and then cantered for a minute or so. i put my arm out and said 'whoah' and she stopped dead and looked at me. so cute. she was so willing just standing there waiting for what i was going to ask her next. i wanted to see her go the other way because i figured she might be pretty one sided. i came around behind her, she turned around and started trotting around the other way. i said 'canter' she cantered. i said trot she trotted. she was brilliant.

even though it was a little rough under the saddle i can see there is no malice behind it and she is smart aaaaaand willing and full of hot feed right now lol aside from the sillies thats a pretty good combo to me so i went ahead and bought her. usually i take longer to decide such things but sometimes you just know and you dont need any more time to think.

i had a friend come with me who knows horses and she said from the ground she looked lovely. even though she was being silly she was very naturally holding herself well.

oo oo and, she perfectly proportioned for a tb. her back is actually the perfect length. shes compact and sturdy and shes got great feet for a tb and...

im sorry!!! im just so excited im spilling it all out here lol rich has gone to sleep early and i cant ramble to him now so you guys are getting it lol

ill get some pics up as soon as i can get some pics of her or find my phone to pc cable

you made it

yeah i dont know what the deal with the work horse mix was. maybe to keep her fat considering there is no other feed there and she is stabled at the moment whichever way today will be her last day on that. i can pay for her this afternoon so as soon as that happens she will have eaten her last hot feed...EVER!!! lol

lol we can have training days with her and your new little girl fun for the whole family hahaha ;)

i wonder what his problem is? its not his back still is it?
