I'm getting a tattoo! =]

My roomate/best friend is a fantastic tattoo artist. She's done some for dozens of people, and four on herself. All of which look great. And she's more than willing to do one for me.

This is what I was thinking, and I wanted to get some opinions. Although I'm pretty much already set on it, this is a permanent thing, lol.

I want to get the impression of a hoofprint on my heart. Not a horseshoe, a hoofprint, with the outline of the sole, frog, heel bulb, etc. Probably two of them, like it's walking. One of my favorite quotes is "Horses leave hoofprints on your heart," so I went with it. My friend said it was a great idea and she'd be able to do it just fine, drawing wise.

Thoughts? If you're anti-tattoo, that's fine, I respect that. But I'm 20 years old, I have thought this out, and I will continue to think this out for a few months before I actually have my friend do it. But as I said, I'm pretty set on it. About 95% sure. =]

Go for it! I love body mods, and tattoos in particular. I plan to get one when I want something enough. Yours is a great idea, and in a place where it can be covered when necessary, so nothing stopping you!

I give myself very good advice, But I very seldom follow it

I know right! You'll only get to see it if I feel like showing you my boobs! Lol. That's one of the things I thought about. I didn't want it on my shoulder for that reason, although I do like the idea of one on the back of my neck... I'd just have to find the right thing for it.

The only downfall is I have a feeling it's going to get very addicting. In my line of work, as long as I can cover it, it doesn't matter. So, like you said, what's stopping me? Especially when my friend will do it for free? =]

YES! Which is why I'm waiting for a bit before I get my tattoo, and my tongue pierced. Once I start I'll want more and more. Ha ha ha.

Get a picture of what you want and put it on your bathroom mirror so you look at it when you are getting ready for work/school/etc, if you still like it after a couple of weeks go for it.

I have two tattoos myself and I love them!

Fantastic idea! I love body mods, and to be honest, there are certain things I just don't believe you're going to get sick of. Having the image of your naked girlfriend and her name tattooed in sprawling print across your back is obviously a BAD idea. Having your child's name tattooed across your ankle - obviously a good choice.

You've put good consideration into the location and the why - you're set to go! I think it's a fantastic idea, and I love tattoos that have little stories that go with them instead of "just because" (my sister has an awesome gargoyle type dragon tattooed on her back, and it's a great tattoo but it's a "just because" tattoo).

I say go for it, I love the idea and it's just not something you're going to regret when you're 80 - it's probably something you can have to remember fondly when you can't climb into a saddle anymore, because it's never going to change how you feel about horses!

Yay! I'm definitely going to have my friend draw it up for me so I can get used to it. I'm excited, and when I do have it drawn out, I'll post it. And I'll probaby post a [very up-close, haha] picture of it when/if I get it. =D

Gillian, I had my tongue pierced and it was amazing fun to play with. But the stupid ball broke and I never got around to getting a new one. So alas, it closed, and I'm not sure if I'll get it re-done or not. Now I know how much it hurts, haha! Plus, I'm really enjoying that I can eat an ice cream cone, lol.

Keep in mind the shape of your boob will change over time - especially if you have kids/nurse. The hoof may not keep it's shape depending on where it is . Otherwise I think it's a very cool idea .

I'd love a tattoo someday, but I can never decide on what nor where for long enough (I figure if I ever come up with something I'll write it down on the calendar, and if I never waver on it for six months, then it's a go).

Is your friend really careful with her instruments to keep them clean and sterile?
