Smile I'm looking for info & feedback - round bales, slow feed net for horses

I'm considering not grazing my horses on pasture this summer. Instead put out 6 round bales with slow net wrap for continues feeding 24/7 or possibly turn in & out after several hours. Any suggests on how many hours? Over the pass 10 yrs my horses have been turn out all horses on full pasture 24/7. I have lots of hay left over fr '11 season, which what they are wintering on now. My decision to do this will cut the cost of expensive pasture rental. I can buy hay cheaper here & than pasture rent. Looking info the best Slow Net Feeders, that will last several seasons, horse don't get stuck in or don't bite through too Also interested possible build our own too. I current have 12+ horses, my horses work hard no concern with founder & ride 3-8 hrs per day/ 6 days week in BC! I look forward to you views & comments.

I use the slow feed bale wraps. One thing I will tell you, make sure your bale is tightly packed. It does no good on light, loosely packed bales. And, in the sun, they do deteriorate quicker.

I know you are asking about net feeders, but have you checked out the DuPleissis (spelling?) feeders? They are large, 2 part (bolt together) plastic huts with 8 openings for horses' heads. We got one last year (only have 5 horses) and LOVE it! It is indestructable, holds 1000 pound bales securely, and prevents waste. Since it covers the top of the bale, it also prevents sun and rain damage.
