This past weekend, I made the leap - I am a horse owner once again! On Saturday, I went with my wonderful husband to Charlestown Races and Slots to view a horse that I'd been admiring online. I found her on www.canterusa.org. She's exactly what I wanted, so I had a PPE done that day, and bought her.

She's about 16.2, 4 years old. Her registered name is Buddhaful Song, which I'd like if it wasn't spelled like that, so I am planning to call her something else. I haven't settled on a name though. I've had a few suggestions from my family to call her "Vintage II" because she resembles my old horse...lol.. what can I say, I love roans!

She is my first OTTB, and she's quite energetic, so I know I'll have my hands full with her. I do love a challenge though! I'm so excited to get her home and let her out in a pasture. Poor girl will be stuck at the track until Dec 1st, when my trainer's barn will have an opening. :(

I can't get her video to work here, but here are some pictures!

This is her sale picture, where she looks more bay with roan than gray. Maybe it's her summer coat? This picture was taken in August. It'll be interesting to see how her color with change over the years. Thank goodness she's gained some weight since then.

Here she is having a stareoff with my husband.

And finally a color comparison to my old horse

Oh wonderful, you found my horse. I have been looking all over for her! You can just send her right back to her rightful owner in Texas thanks.

Just kidding, I am insanely jealous! My perfect horse! Nice size, perfect age and to top it off - A GREY MARE!!! Good luck with her she looks like a wonderful prospect, well chosen.

My wife forgot to mention the next day a lady came to look at that horse, and some others. The owner told us he had someone else coming out. The lady wanted the horse my wife got and asked the owner to call and ask if she wanted to make a profit and sell to her.

Thank you everyone!! I feel like she will be my perfect horse. I absolutely love grays, so I'm so glad I managed to find a nice one!

As an interesting tidbit, this mare was in one of the barns that caught fire around labor day. I'm not sure how well known this story is, but a couple barns at the Charlestown track caught fire and @40 horses died. She was in one where the roof opposite her stall caught fire, so they managed to get her out in time. The stories that I heard on Saturday about the not so lucky horses broke my heart :(

Like my husband mentioned, someone did tell the trainer to offer me more money if I'd be willing to sell her to them. I'm lucky I got out there the day before she did! She was there to meet with a couple different trainers though, so hopefully she'll find another one that she likes.
