Talking Impacts horses have in your life?!

I'll start it of by sayin how my horse have influenced me! My horse Rocky was born a surprise, and he has had a major impact in my life! I have always been really depressed, and Rocky has helped me through the bad. I would've probably killed myself if it wasn't for that horse to be honest.. I've only been around horses for ten years but There is something special about Rocky that I haven't seen in any other horse. And I've been through a fair share of horses and have never had a bond that great as I do with Rocky! Rocky's the one of very few reasons I haven't decided to do the undescribe. I had lost all of my faith in god a while ago. But having Rocky made me double think things. I think, "someone put rocky here for me" and I think of the many times I've almost sold rocky. There was one time I was trading rocky and his mom for an Arab, and long story short, after an hour and a broken finger and three stiches later, they guy whom I was trading the horses said " I'll come and try to get the baby in a week or two with a bigger trailer, for the time being I'll jut take the mom and to can keep the Arab". Well the Arab kicked the crap out of me and when I tried to call the guy I traded with, he said he was moving to New York and instead if the five day trip back here I could sell the Arab and keep Rocky if he could keep the mom. It's like god keep rocky from going with the guy because me and rocky where meant to be. And since then I've gotten my faith back! The horse has made the biggest impact in my life. And with the ten years of horses. It's like me and rocky have grown and learned together. More than any other horse I've had. But normally I wouldn't suggest getting a baby horse and deciding to learn together. But since I did have a background with horses it worked for me! Rocky has given me a different look of the world. And that has made all the difference!

What's the impact horses have had on your life??

I don't know if an individual horse has really impacted me, but having horses has impacted the way I live my life a lot.

As a teenager I went a bit "wayward" but I think if I hadn't had a hobby like horses I would have gone completely off the rails. They gave me a perspective of life, where you can just walk away from all your real life problems and do your horse thing.

Later on, I chose my university because of it's rural location, and spent (and still spend) a lot my student time scrimping and saving trying to afford my horse. It's given me a different perspective on money and priorities to the way most people my age think about money.

I honestly think that the way I understand and view the world, and the priorities I have, are heavily influenced by having and growing up with horses. I wouldn't change that, but it makes it hard to be quite "normal". Still, I'm happy :)

Hmmm... Hard to explain :p. Horses have always been my life, They kept me happy through my childhood, and sane when I was a teenager. Even when I had a really terrible day, I could always go out to the barn and see horses. Even the sight of horses grazing instantly calmed me. And don't even get me started on how the smell calmed me. If I smelt horses anywhere I was I would almost go into a trance. I went through a bit of a wild stage, but in the end horses set me right again :).

Lets see. I keep a good tan, my wardrobe has a lot of clothes dedicated to getting stained, I never seem to be able to just "go out and about" w/o having to at least completely change my clothes, they make sure I don't oversleep, and what space I have for my own stuff in my bathroom storage/dressing closets has definitely been impacted by the volume of their "sundries". ;)

Seriously, though - throughout my life they have always been their for me - they have never failed me. When the good times roll, they take me higher, when the hard times come I can absolutely count on them to help me through. When I step in w my horses the rest of the world ceased to exist; I cannot be "preoccupied" when interacting w my very special friends. And, horses hold the concept of "fair" in very high regard and so do I, so when things don't seem fair...I know I can go to my horses and be reassured there is a world where it is always "fair"...their world, and I am so thankful that that world is just a little ways outside my door.

My mare is a big reality check for me. I see a lot of traits in her that are in myself. (Big grudge holders ) While at the same time, I inspire to be more like her. I want to have a good work ethic like she does. She teaches me to keep going even when I feel like giving up, and that I need to take things slow. She often reminds me when I do something she considers disrespectful by being disrespectful to me. We teach each other, we learn new skills together, play together, have fun together, laugh together, cry together, fight with each other. I believe that things happen for a reason, and for whatever reason, she came into my life. If there was one thing I could say to her, I would say thank you. Thank you for everything you've put me through, because you push me to be better, and for that, I am so grateful.

Wow! Y'all said said amazing things/story's. Really makes me think! I must say that people have said really bad thinks to me about "growing and learning together with a young horse" and they've said how stupid I am. But I have anyway, and I've learned and felt more than the rest of experiences I've had. An I know Rocky has benefited greatly from it! Unlike what people think would happen. And @borntorun you just explained how it was like for me :) purely amazing.

How have horses impacted my life? Well i'm a very shy person always have been. Since I've had horses to work with and love on i'm a lot more social. I still have my shy moments but not nowhere near as bad as I used to be.

My mare Penny, was the most amazing bond I have ever, and likely will ever have in my life. She was just very special to me.

I will probably search out that bond for the rest of my life, and never find it - so for now, my lovely Lucas, who probably deserves more of my heart than I am giving him. He's just my sanity, my me time, where I go if I need to cry or be alone, or if I just need time to myself and am fully happy.

Horses have always been in my life, my family's life and I suppose my life wouldn't be as rich and full and healthy and happy without them. When I say rich, I mean in spirit and soul, not money, I spend a fortune on those beasts but worth every penny, except that one stupid fly sheet that ripped the first day!
