Indroducing Monte

Hi I haven't been on here in a long time, don't know why but I kinda forgot about it, had heaps on and just wasn't doing much with forums.
Anyway I have just bought this boy, he is a 4yr gelding, OTT who had his last start in April. He only had 8 starts and was too slow. He is in poor condition but give him a couple of months and he will be looking awesome, he is such a sweetheart. My friend thinks I am mad, he is very narrow in the chest, I haven't seen another horse as narrow and she said he has really bad front legs an will probably break down on me. I mostly trail ride with a couple of endurance rides in which I do just for fun nothing serious, and it will be 12 months before I even consider doing endurance on him as he is only 4 (well 5 in a month! ) He seems to always have one leg turned out, not the same one he stands straight with one and the other turns out.
Photo's probably not great but any comments would be appreciated
Oh and that's my other mare in the background :)

You seem to be putting him out even before you get to know who he is.

If he'sonly had 8 starts, he hasn't been raced enough for him to really be broken down. So you're in luck, he's still intact.

His chest and legs are fine for what you expect out of him.

He will be just fine for trail riding. He would be just fine as a jumper or a dressage mount. Don't listen to your friend. With some TLC, he'll turn into a wonderful horse.

I think he'll be fine for you.

I personally think that Monte is a very handsome boy! With some time and TLC, you'll have a nice looking horse on your hands. :)

Thanks guys. I think his pretty cute and will scrub up pretty well with TLC. His getting loads of that. He is such a lovely boy, there is just something about him that I was drawn to.
It was just after listening to my friend (who I do value her opinion becasuse she does know a lot and had bred horses for lots of years) I got a bit unsure. But I think she forgets i'm not interested in showing (she's a big shower) I just want to have fun with my horse so he doesn't have to have perfect confirmation. Ill just get him looking stunning and then work him up and prove her wrong
