Im almost 15 and have grown up fourtunatley with horses and always had acces to help and instruction. I bought a 3yr old green broken Connemara, He was amazing, he was quiet enough considering he was 3. And he was so willing to learn, loving and most of all unbeleiveably smart. My first thread here was about Jack. I had a young horse with bad spooking and bolting issues. They were serious enough to put me in hospital a few times. It was after me having to leave him for a long time from issues were my home life was a mess and that became prority. I left him turned out in a heard at my aunt, some of you will know it went downhill from there. He basicly went loony. After alot of people telling me that he is no good until he has a bullet or his "too far gone to help now" i continued as i always knew he was special. It probably wasnt the smartest thing i could of done i have the X-rays to prove it, but in 4 years of me training him giving up on instructors pushing him too far too quick, he has come miles and miles to a pony the very same people that said he should be dog meat want to buy him. He has won EVERYTHING! He is no longer spooky (he shies every now and then but he shuffles to the side compared to running head first into trees) and hasnt gone to bolt for a very verylong time. Im so proud of him. I am actually teaching a 5yr old girl to ride on him. My legs are unfourtunatley getting to long for him. But the girls mum (there family friends) was watching me ride him one day, it was his first time in the new indoor, and it was his first ride after a 3 month spell, she asked if i could just completley drop the reins and pretend to fall on his neck at a canter, i did it and he slowed to a walk straight away. They asked if i could make him do all three paces and halt on voice command without hand contact, of course as all my horses his voice command so secretley he flew past her test as such with flying colours. By then end we were jumping 1mtr with no bridle and bareback. She asked if they could lease him for there daughter. She has ridden him all week and washed him ect at 5 and loves him to peices. I hop on him once a week so he still has work. Ive fully educated him to do travers and flying changes ect so im so excited to watch his new rider this little girl grow up on him and learn everything he can teach her. The best thing is they also live on the agistment property we live on so i see him everyday and the girl love it when I give her lessons on him. I'm just amazed how far he has come, and i know some people may have different opinions that a 5yr old shouldnt be riding a horse that had previous problems, but he truley is a different horse. He still has his loving and cheeky personality but is trusting and responsive and isnt scared of the world. He has litterly blossemd! The best part they live on the same property we do so he stays where he is they just take over expenses.
They are so nice and i couldnt have asked for a better family for him. There even helping me find a Warmblood. But this time im going a bit older than 3 i want something a bit more going. I really do love him and im so proud of how far he has come. It probably sounds ridiculas though.
I also wanted to say thank you, i learnt so much about helping Jack out by HF members and honestly most of the methods i used on him have come from you all...
I will have to show you photos of Jack and his new girl.
here is the boy, a long time ago.
