Just a reminder to keep yourself properly hydrated and fed up. Also, to not push yourself to exhaustion.
Today I was running, running, running all day and only managed to scarf down a yogurt real quick before I had to work with a horse. I was working with a particulary pushy horse and said horse managed to break a piece of tack. As I walked back to the trailer to replace it I started to feel strange. I immediately text my BO's wife (who was home) to see if she could bring me out a bottle of water.
The minute I turned and started walking back towards the house I could see black forming at the corners of my eyes. I'm extremely greatful she brought out a gallon jug of water haha. I downed half that thing. I started sipping and felt like I was going to fall over. I told her I had to sit down and she asked if I had anything to eat and I realized I had only eaten yogurt today. She had her son run back into the house to grab a protein bar and banana for me. I'm so glad they did because I was seriously dizzy and the black forming in my vision tells me I was getting ready to pass out.
- Drink lots of water. The more you sweat the more you should drink.
- Don't over work yourself (or your horse)
- Make sure you're eating (My big problem is I forget to eat)
- If you feel "funny" or "strange" stop what you're doing and sit down/drink something/ eat something (nothing sugary)
Just be in tune with your body and if something doesn't feel right, it probably isn't.
