I've decided i will get some formal horse qualifications at long last

I have been around horses all my life but not ridden all my life. I've been getting back into it for a couple of years now and when I left school at 16 I wanted to go on and do an equine course but unfortunately my parents couldn't afford the fees so I went into secretarial work. I have always been unfulfilled in my career and due to life circumstances I now have the funds at 27 years old to be able to do an equine course so I have decided that I am going to do a distance learning course as I still need to work and look after my little girl. Along with the distance learning course I am working at the weekends for a freelance instructor looking after her horses and hopefully combining the two will give me a good foundation. I'm still not sure what I want to do in the equine industry but it's a start. I'm so excited would love to hear from anyone who is an adult student doing this kind of thing or just anyone in general who is studying equine. Just thought I would share with you guys! As my non horsey friends were like 'oh really' what do they mean 'oh really' this is the most excited i've felt in a long time

Good luck i'm sure you will have so much fun. I've also kicked my but in to gear and applied to do a farrier course. It's only taken my 5 years to get a grip haha

Hey whiskey, Are they really long courses? I think someone I was talking to recently said they were around 4-5 years before you qualify? Well done you! You will be in great demand, not many farriers round this area. Good luck and keep us posted.
