Ivy - one week later...

So I introduced you all to my skinny girl I got last week... we decided to name her Ivy because my hubby thinks her color looks like Ivy growing on her back...

first pic is day 1, then the next three pics are today, exactly one week later right before trim, during trim, and after. Her feet look like real hooves now and she is gaining weight and looking much better. Ivy is a really good girl, she is starting to work on leading, backing, and getting sacked out.

It's amazing what good groceries and a little effort can do. The vet comes out in 2 days to check her teeth, run coggins, and get a baseline on her. I am very pleased with her progress :)

Farrier says it will take some time before she grows enough heel on the right front to get it the right shape, but no permanent damage was done and she should look completely normal within 6 months :)

What a gorgeous little girl! Glad you decided to take her in. She'll bloom into an even more beautiful filly before you know it!

Thanks Guys, I am really happy with her, she has been on free feed grass/alfalfa mix, a mineral block, and fresh water since she arrived and I started Triple Crown senior feet and Empower boost ( small feedings 3 times a day) and she is looking and feeling great :)

Tejas - I leave her stall open, and find that she goes in during the day, and comes out early mornings, afternoons, and evenings. She wont wear a flymask, has figured out how to pull them off (she's pretty good at getting a halter off too). I am going to invest in a zinc based sunblock, and my flyspray also has a sunscreen in it... but if she wants to hang out indoors all day, she can. (diva!)

I lunged her today for 10 minutes, she w/t/c both ways with no fuss and I led her over the trail obstacles. She is very trusting and I think she will progress very quickly. They know when you are trying to help them, I think.

Wow, even in her skinny pic, you can see that girl is quality. Just after a week, she is getting a bloom on her. I can hardly wait until you've had her a few months! Nice horse, sorry forgot to add that!

Oh Vair Oh - did you catch her pedigree? One of the nicest bred fillies I have every seen, can't believe I found her - and can't believe someone let her get to such a sad shape. BUT, overwhelmingly greatful I did find her and we can fix her up, she's gonna be my next all-arounder and I think she'll compete with the best of them, we are in for a great adventure :)
