old photos

Sadly my brother took possession of most of ours when dad died but I have found a few to scan and - they dont come much worse than these!
One is with the first foal that was actually my very own when I was about 14 - I am the tallest girl, the shot was taken from the ground and made me look like I had a turnip head. My mother had a waste not want not attitude so I was forced to wear her sisters hand me down old fashioned jodhs - at least 15 years out of date. The smaller girl was a neighbours daughter who used to ride my outgrown pony. the boots she is wearing were allegedly once worn by the jockey Lester Piggot and my Grandad picked them up at the racing yard when he left them behind.
The other pic is of me on the same mare when I broke her the summer after the foal was weaned. THis was the first time I ever sat on her - no hat and goodness only knows what I had on my legs or feet. I think I must have had a total rebellion from the previous pic

OH MY GOSH do I have a whole slew of pictures from years ago! Actually I shouldn't say years. Some of the pictures are from a horse show on a pony I rode when I was like 13. So 6ish years about..

Time to dig up and post! :)

Check out my blog! Keep up with my horse life!

Face, I would have given anything to be able to ride my horses to school when I was a kid. I probably could have anyway (the school was pretty dang lenient about stuff like that) but the only option would have been to leave him tied all day. So, I just had to get my fill in in every waking non-school moment LOL.

Just fair warning, you're fixing to get a complete picture overload.....

This was how I got my start on horses, sitting in front of big brother (who is 4 years older) or in front of Mom or Dad. Most often it was Dad though, Mom never really enjoyed riding all that much

Then, sometimes they posed us for pictures *gasp* 2 tiny girls on a basically loose horse, no adult in sight, and neither wearing helmets LOL.

Something like this is my very first memory...me sitting in front of Dad on a gray horse at a horse show somewhere. He used to sit me in front of him whenever he was warming up his show or roping horses. (Sorry the picture quality is so poor, it's a scanned polariod from ~28 years ago)

Then, I graduated to my very own "horse" when I was about 3.

He was also broke to drive...though he sometimes did double duty

Then, my brother got a new horse (the sorrel in the background) and I got to move up to a real horse

And just for grins and giggles, we are keeping the same old traditions alive.

Yep, same burro from when I was a kid

Older sister to the girl on Olen

I would have sat up there with her (same girl with Olen), but my saddle was just a bit too small for the both of us to fit comfortably

Got some pictures! Turns out I remembered I have an album of old pictures on my facebook! Turns out, this was a little over 8 years ago, so I was way off! I was probably 9 in these pictures because it was a few weeks before my birthday.

Here's me in '04 (October to be exact) with a paint pony named Justy. I even remember his show name: "Just Another Paint Pony!" Hehe! He was pretty much my life when I rode him. When I rode another pony I actually went home and cried to my mom that I missed riding Justy so my instructor was more than happy to let me ride him again, lol!

Me who should be paying attention to doing well in the class instead of smiling for the camera

Second place!

I love this picture! My dad, younger sister, older brother, and mom. And Justy trying to see if my sister has anything in her pockets!

Grooming and Showmanship (least favorite class just because it was so boring!)

Excuse me while I avoid the sun! (I'm actually not too sure what I was doing here..) All I remember is it was soo hot that day, despite it being October, and showing + feeling really hot=not my thing! But hey, I do it because I love it!

Collection of ribbons from that day

A picture I "picknic'd" on facebook like a year ago:

Waiting to enter the ring to jump!

Time for jumping! My favorite, and if I recall, not too shabby either! :) He was such a well cooperative pony!

Around a second time!

This is another pony named Snowy that me and my friend both rode who was an old little sweetheart! <3 I miss her!
