Face, I would have given anything to be able to ride my horses to school when I was a kid. I probably could have anyway (the school was pretty dang lenient about stuff like that) but the only option would have been to leave him tied all day
. So, I just had to get my fill in in every waking non-school moment LOL.
Just fair warning, you're fixing to get a complete picture overload.....
This was how I got my start on horses, sitting in front of big brother (who is 4 years older) or in front of Mom or Dad. Most often it was Dad though, Mom never really enjoyed riding all that much
Then, sometimes they posed us for pictures *gasp* 2 tiny girls on a basically loose horse, no adult in sight, and neither wearing helmets LOL.
Something like this is my very first memory...me sitting in front of Dad on a gray horse at a horse show somewhere. He used to sit me in front of him whenever he was warming up his show or roping horses. (Sorry the picture quality is so poor, it's a scanned polariod from ~28 years ago)
Then, I graduated to my very own "horse" when I was about 3.
He was also broke to drive...though he sometimes did double duty
Then, my brother got a new horse (the sorrel in the background) and I got to move up to a real
And just for grins and giggles, we are keeping the same old traditions alive.
Yep, same burro from when I was a kid
Older sister to the girl on Olen
I would have sat up there with her (same girl with Olen), but my saddle was just a bit too small for the both of us to fit comfortably
