Farrier came out yesterday. My boy Rick DID SO AWESOME!!!
When I first got him he was terrified of the vet, the farrier, and pretty much EVERY man he came across. After a year of work my boy finally FELL ASLEEP while my farrier worked on him!!! Usually I had to have a death grip on his halter, had to tickle his lips, and have worked with his feet almost every day. HUGE KUDOS to my farrier!!! He has helped me every step of the way. Never once did he get frustrated with him! Always gentle, soothing, quick and patient when it got a little hairy in the past! I adore this young kid!
So the funny part...
ALL THREE OF MY HORSES forgot their right from their left! I work with them every day lifting their feet, usually I tap them with my boot till they pick them up. So why did they pick up the opposite when my farrier asked? It was HILARIOUS! Every so often when D asked for a foot EACH horse would try to "give" him the other! Rick at one point kept on and on trying to give the left hind, trying to get it to D standing on his right. Finally I had to walk over and set it down, D grabbed the right and lifted. Rick let out a huge sigh when he finally figured out what we wanted. D laughed at my "challenged' horses!
Just a great day with the horses yesterday!
