Question keeps on stopping!!!

Hey everyone! Recently I have been handwalking my horse on the trails, and out of nowhere he'll just stop. Plant his feet and say "nope, im not budging." so then I back up some and pull hard and he will start walking again. I have no idea why he just started this but its sorta irritating. He does it on the trails, when I walk him to the ring or to and from the pasture...pretty much anytime. He will also pull and try to get to my left side and move his head everywhere. Hard. My arms are basically doing 360s trying to pull him. So my question is: any ideas on how to fix this? Any ideas on why he does this?

Any feedback would be great! Thanks! =]

IDK why he is doing it or how to alter the behavior. With my own horse though, when he slams on brakes and refuses to go, I ask him to walk slightly to the left or to the right and then straight again. That seems to get him going again. Maybe it will help you too. Good Luck!

My horse does this when being led. Sometimes he stops to poop but sometimes he just stops and looks at me. It's really random and I can't find a cause. I just come back to behind his shoulder and ask him to walk on again. Sorry i'm no help!
