I live in southern IN and our network tv comes out of Louisville so our local NBC affiliate broadcasts live from Churchill all day Friday & Saturday. Every year I look forward to sitting in front of the tv for those two days. LOL It seems like every year the broadcast becomes more about fashion and people watching and not the horses so I don't like that so much.

I don't follow racing close enough to know anything about the horses ahead of time so I tend to pick my favorite by their looks on the day of the race. To show you how good I am at it, I've only picked the winner of the Derby once and that was when Cannonade won back sometime in the 70's.

My spread sheets are a mess this year. Cupid being out has continued to mess with me. I was so clear a month ago. Lol.

Danzig Candy and Outwork on the outside is going to make things interesting. Remembering Materiality. That certainly altered the race last year.

This is the hardest year in a while. Usually I cut the 20 in half, then whittle it down to half again to use in selections. This year I am not close yet.
Danzig Candy- the 20 post is rough. He wants to go to the front but will have to hustle from out there. And it hard to leave Mike Smith off any ticket.

Creator in the 3 post is one that I don't know what to do with now. There are others.

I don't think I have the channel to watch it anymore! I've been watching it the last several years live, and I saw American Pharaoh win all three races live last year. That was exciting, so now I'm really disappointed for this year.

I might try to watch it somewhere else. If not I'll check out the replays! As long as nobody spoils it for me (Like that's posssible with headlines everywhere online) I'll be able to see it and look forward to the next two races regardless of who wins. :)

Who knows, maybe somebody else will try and go for the crown unannounced.

Alright, I'm going to commit to this set of picks:

Super
Nyquist - Exaggerator - Suddenbreakingnews - Lani

Exacta Box(es)
Exaggerator/Mohaymen
Nyquist over Brody's Cause/My Man Sam/Lani

Lani is so intriguing, I can't help putting him in there- he may refuse to run at all, but if he does show up with his race day brain, he seems really talented.

I'm not a huge bettor, but my husband and I will probably throw in $50 and have fun over the course of the day.

It won't be an easy race this year, no real superstars, a few manufactured stars, and a whole lot of milers, so it's going to be an interesting race. May shape up to be the slowest Derby, or O'Neill may have a hot needle at Churchill, but right now, nobody is looking like a winner.

Subbing, though I have no idea who I am betting on yet. I would like to think that Nyquist will remain on his winning streak, but usually right before I say that something bad happens.

The Derby's so wide open this year, so it took me a while to decide on my picks, but I decided on Nyquist, Mohaymen, and Mo Tom.

Nyquist, while distance is a bit of a question, he just looks like he's a step above everyone else. Mohaymen has been doing great at Churchill, and I've always liked Mo Tom so why not throw him in there lol.

I hope everyone has a great Derby Day!

Using Trojan Nation, Nyquist, Destin, and Mohaymen in my boxes and wheels. Place a small WPS on Lani too. When that horse shows up, he shows up. Might be the only horse nasty enough to lock on and take out Nyquist. I don't really care about his times, honestly.

He's sure got the attitude his pedigree promises. Never forget Sunday Silence's nickname, "Sunday Stop It."
