Angry lease/boarding money is an issue

with my mom and I money is an issue. she wants me to lease a horse over the summer rather than making a commitment to buy. i have been looking at online lease ads and talked to my instructor about leasing the quarter pony she hass that I love.

i need something i am comfortable with so it is probably best that i stop looking elsewhere, cut my loses and take the pony. (I was looking at a throughbred, i really want it.. but its just not realistic) however the pony is going to have costs too.

I WANT to and NEED to lease a horse for the summer but my mom has NO way of helping me financially! I dont have a secure job yet because the market sucks. Even if its a free lease (the thoroughbred i mentioned was free) theres still board and other fees. I think im just mad at my mom because she doesnt understand... we need money for this. I just dont know what to do. even if some kind of option came up i still think it would be out of price range, where i ride at now is way too expensive. id have to change barns and would have no way to transport a horse.

i think i should just face the fact that im never going to get a horse, be it quarter pony or thoroughbred.

the board costs money, lease usually costs money, though there are exceptions... and theres just not enough of it to go around.

may they all have good fortune, good food, and an abundance of love.

Oh never say never! I was told not to even think about getting a horse and now I have one! The key is to start saving now that way it'll be alot more easier down the road if moneys tight. There are alot of ways to get to ride horses more often.
Hey people told me not to get Markie (a rescue tb who was slaughterbound and VERY green)and I have won alot of shows with her. Never give up on your dreams. Just plan ahead. There are always loopholes.

Agreed! never say never! i thought i would NEVER have a horse. Im just leasing one now, but will soon have my own, and never thought that would have been possible.

I financially do not have the money to pay for full board, or full lease. BUT...i talked to my B.O. and we made a deal that if i do 10 stalls, 3X a week, she would let me lease for free. She needs the help at the barn more then she needs the money, but what im trying to say is.... could you possibly work something out like that? Also, at my barn there are many boarders, and a few of the can not get out to the barn as much as they would like to each week/month. SO they are willing to free lease out there horse to someone who is willing to work with the horse.

Could you possibly talk to someone, and see if that may be something your interested in?

Im not sure what your planning on doing with the horse, showing/ just for fun/ training... but im sure there is something out there for you. DONT STOP LOOKING!
