Have not posted any in a while so thought I would.

First up a fan favorite. Zennyatta is expecting a foal by Medaglia d'Oro in the next few weeks. Here is a link with information and pictures Spring Photos. Also on the site there is information about an upcoming documentary available. Maybe some would be interested, or thinking a gift for a fan. Don't know when/if out in time for Christmas.

This years Hall Of Fame inductees were announced. No surprises on the selections. Javier Castellano, Victor Espinoza, and Garrett Gomez are the Jockey inductees. Sad Garrett didn't get to see it. Goldikova was the horse selection. Maybe not a household name outside of racing circles, but a deserving selection.

I will be doing a Kentucky Derby /Oaks thread in the near future. This will be nationally televised. Will include viewing information, entires and other information. If anyone has anything they would like to see included, feel free to post. Also any questions in general welcomed. Wanted to go ahead and get this up for folks who are interested.

Honestly wish they'd branch out with Zenyattas goals. They always seem to go for Oro or War Front, and none of the foals seem to do well. Most have passed before even getting to the track either through sickness or accident. Not saying at all it's the sire's fault. Just seems like a black cloud hangs over those two when it comes to crosses with Zenyatta.

Personally I'd love to see her crossed with American pharaoh.

My fingers are crossed this little one makes it to the track and wins well. Zenyattas two (or is it 3 I can't remember) foals who've made it don't seem to be doing well (though haven't checked lately).

OH MY GOD YES!!!! How did I not think of that cross before? I bet that would be an incredible horse!

Sorry, had a little moment there, lol. Has anybody been keeping up with Arrogate?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong on any of this- going off of memory here :D.

@LoveGus- Zenyatta has had 4 foals to date, and her 2017 foal will be her first by d'Oro. Her first by Bernardi, the second by Tapit, and the third and forth were by War Front. The filly by War Front passed away from a paddock accident and the last foal passed shortly after birth.

While her two colts that are in training have not lived up to expectations, her Tapit colt, Ziconic, recently hit the board in his turf debut.

Why was I think there's been a bunch of crosses to Oro ? Well I think they should stay away from Bernardini and War Front then. Cause neither produced a good racer and war fronts foals were just born with black clouds over them.

If they ever do a cross to Pharoah I'd stalk that baby. I can only imagine what it would look like

@Blindhorse you are welcome. No problem from me holding/ comparing to American Pharaoh. Everyone has horses they just connect with in this sport for one reason or another. I was glad he came along. Not just for the long awaited Triple Crown. In discussions with others over the years when ever a horse had a chance for it, I would say I don't see it, that's not what a Triple Crown winner looks like. They thought I was just poo pooing this horse or that one. When Pharoah came along finally got to say there, that's what it looks like.

For me there is no real way to define why attachment happens. Sometimes it can bring on unexpected -sadnesses isn't the right word, but don't have another. Not long after Arrogates performance watching replays a thought hit me. Could Cigar( whom I dearly love and mostly responsible for my love of this sport) get home from there like Arrogate just did. I truly believe so, but still. And what about Point Given, another one of my all time favorites. Think so but you never know.

I try not to let it effect wagering, but it does. In one of the discussions about Derbys gone by on another board I was telling about one of my best paying (52 bucks) winners, Thunder Gultch. Truth be told it wasn't brilliant handicapping. I had a few bucks left over from tickets and decided to play them. Gary Stevens ( now one of my favorites) was on him. Didn't know then who he was. I picked him because of the color of the silks. Something I now advise against. Someone asked if you had the winner, why didn't you get hit the exacta and trifecta? I could not remember so went to YouTube and watched the video. There it was. Serenas Song. I loved her and had her on top of everything.

Not always big names I get attached to. Awhile back there was a claimer named Hoochie Poochie running at Turfway. Nothing of note there. But a hard trier that came through for me on more than on occasion. He worked his way up to a big stake. The Spiral I think. Bigger names and top jocks descended on little Turfway. Put a few bucks on Hoochie, figured I owed him. Not a handicapping angle I suggest. As he was coming home, I was in my living room chearing my head off. Not for the 24 to 1, but to see this horse have his time in the sun.

Same for Ben's Cat. Got a lump in my throat when the caller yelled here comes the Cat as he got up to win at the age of 10. It wasn't a national television race. A Grade II Turf sprint.

Sorry to ramble on, thanks to those that read all of that. Obviously I can talk all day about racing. Actually it's what brought me here. I was typing something in yahoo about racing and the Horse Fourm came up on the page. I clicked. I have enjoyed it and met a lot of nice people. Just one more way racing has added to my life. Before racing I didn't love horses. I liked them fine. I grew up in a small town in the South. Being able to ride was just something I could do. Kinda like hunting or fishing, etc. may not do it all the time, but know how. I even rode some in college. There was a stable not far from campus. Actually not far from a golf course. So going to ride was an active like playing a round.

But I found horse racing. Actually that just kinda happened to. But that's another story. It made me love the horse. Made me see what amazing creatures they are. Made me learn about them all that I could.

I did it again. Stopping now.

I no longer have time to study the spring stakes races like I used to, but...

I found a site that shows the morning works from Churchill every day! Gads, I miss mornings at the track, backside even more so. I may change my work schedule and just soak those up while they last.

Victor is one that I don't know exactly what to say. I don't dislike him and seems like a nice guy. If Mike, Gary, Johnny V, Javier, Julien for example don't win on a horse that should I always just think the horse didn't have it today. I never think or yell what are you doing during a race. The opposite really. Not so much with Victor.

This year will be the hardest in a while. Seeing big payouts. Getting some of it will be the hard part. So many questions, no real standout, no horse that caught my eye as a sneaky good play. Can totally see 3 different winners in the races.

I haven't looked into the horses. I saw the names and looked at some pictures but didn't look at all the stats. Anybody with an interesting record or out of interesting bloodlines in there?

The reach some of them have is pretty impressive, especially Girvin.

He is going to have to be a user. McCracken I'm thinking. Classic Empire bounced back into form and nice on the pedigree. Speaking of Irap is interesting. Was reading something about his pedigree and Buckpasser. Big win at a price in the Blugrass. Don't know how much was the horse, and how much was Julien being masterful at Keeneland.

Battalion Runner's dam is a full sister to BC Dirt Mile winner Tapizar . . . Annnnnd I used to groom her and some of BR's siblings. Apparently, he may have been stepped on in the Woodward . . . ?

Irish War Cry has got an interesting NJ pedigree behind him, and a wonderful NJ owner/breeder. She's owned his female family for generations.

Thunder Snow is pretty cool. Won the UAE Derby, and was a standout on grass in Europe last year. Acts super green and spooky though. Absolutely stunning horse.

Lol, I wish I could be that informed about it aubie! Just gotta know where to look I guess.

I watched races for all of the top 5, and I have to admit that Classic Empire impressed me the most. This is him in the Arkansas Derby. Made quite a move at the end there.

I thought Classic Empire ran a really nice race. Some trip issues, but got clear in the turn for home. Finished nicely for a horse coming off a little setback and layoff. Think he will improve off that effort.

What do you mean?

I'm often oblivious to what's going on in the racing world, lol. How do you keep so informed?

(I'm asking a legitimate question as I don't see myself as knowledgeable about horse racing and you seem to know a lot.) :D

@BlindHorseEnthusiast-

If you use Facebook, follow The Blood Horse, The Paulick Report, Steve Haskin, and Jen Jade. And Old Friends and A Yankee in Paris if you want to keep up with retirement/after care news.

If you don't use FB, you can just visit those websites regularly.

FB for me is basically full of horsey news at this point :)

i guess it's just I really love it.

As for the keeping informed. Like a lot of folks I guess I read emails in the morning. I get one from horse racing now. It's an app(free) done by trainer Kenny McPeek and his wife. Neat app which you can sign up for the email. Has different news articles. Also the usual suspects of Bloodhorse and Paulick report. DRF sometimes read the news section. ESPN on rare occasions, as I don't care for them in general.

I also have TVG network ( it's a extra charge in my area, with my provider) But for some it's not, especially satellite companies. I pick up things from them. They are based in California so most information is about west coast racing, particularly Santa Anita. They just slurp them. It can be annoying at times. But they do have good reporting and talk to people involved. Can come in handy with selections at times. For example in America Pharoahs year I had Firing Line second. Even though Dortmund had beat him twice in their meetings. It was because of an interview with Gary Steves.

Some of it just searching around. I am kinda isolated from racing in this part of the country. No local news or coverage. I just interests me.
I don't see myself as an expert, there are posters here more knowledgeable. I do think I am a pretty good handicapper. But that's something you never really arrive. I love racing and talking about it. I start the threads here for folks that maybe interested or wanting to be.

I adore Classic Empire. Trainer frustrates me at times, though, and I get worried about how well he preps his horses.

Joe Sharp is being super cagey about Girvin. Hung up on a Daily Racing Form reporter yesterday when asked about Z-bar shoes. If he runs, that horse is a total toss, at least for me.

Thunder Snow is still up in the air whether he is coming to Kentucky or running in the 2000 Guineas. In any case, he's not in NA.

Girvin had a nice work yesterday. From what I've read from his connections, it sounds like they will run him unless he starts having problems with the quarter crack.

In other Derby news, after disappointing works, Malagacy and Battalion Runner are both out. This puts Lookin at Lee and Sonneteer in the starting gate, with Royal Mo sitting at spot 21. According to Sheriffs, Royal Mo will ship to Churchill with Gormley on Monday.
