Looking for this mares previous owner OR if anyone has or knows who has her parents?

Okay so, I didn't know where else to put this....So I put it here, I can delete it(I think) and move it to the place its supposed to go if needed.

Last year in April, I bought a mare from one of my mothers friends. In here bringing the mare to my house I was provided with a bill of sale or an auction paper I guess. I have already called the lady on the paper, I chatted with her for a few minutes. She told me for what she paid at the auction the papers the man had on my mare, we're not released to her(I don't know what to think about that??). I have sent email after email and called twice the MFTHBA (I was told she was a fox trotter). I talked to a lady who told me to write an email containing what I knew and if I could get papers maybe sent back if by some miracle they knew who she was(long shot I know but I had to try). She said if I emailed she would forward it on to the bored of directors. I haven't got an email back and its been almost 3 months. I was also told that her parents were registered.

I have made a youtube video, posted 5 or 6 adds, nothing. Is there any other way I can go about look for her last owner?? Or just give up now? I'll include the pictures of my mare just encase some one recognizes her and the youtube video I have made.

Her previous name was Misty. She's chestnut 3 white socks, 2 front one back left. She has a blaze with a chestnut dot on her forehead.

Unless you have past recorded owners or a registered name for her, there's nothing you can do. It's quite possible that the forms were never even properly filled out and that she is not registered.

There really isn't anything you can do unfortunately. I got my leopard appy from auction and tried for months to find out where he came from because I wanted info on his former training and job. I had no luck, problem with auctions is the horse could have been brought in by a dealer who goes to numerous auctions so your looking area could be quite large. Unless you get very lucky and someone recognizes her you will probably never know where she came from or who her parents are.

What Bubba and Rachel said.

Unless you have more information, the registry can't do anything for you.

Registered name, date of birth, and sire and dam's names would help, but since you don't have any of that, you're out of luck.

Most horses who go to auction either never had papers, or the papers got lost or discarded somewhere down the line.

I don't suppose the MFTHBA requires registered horses to be microchipped, do they? If so, a vet could scan for it and you could send the number in to them to see if she's registered.

If you know what auction the horse came and the maybe the date. There is a chance that they would have record of the seller, provided you know or have the number tag that your horse was marked by.

That actually is not a bad idea. I never thought of her being chipped. I'll talk to my vet about it. Thanks!

Its all on the auction paper, I have. I am this horses 4th owner. She went through a man, a lady, my mothers friend and me. So the lady I am talking about is the second owner of the horse. Her name is ON the auction paper. She's the one I called and chatted with. Said due to what she paid the man wouldn't release the papers he had. I asked her what breed she she, MFT I asked her about her parents she said all she knew was that they were registered and that's all she could tell me.

But you are trying to find the guy who sold her through the auction, if his name isn't on the auction paper, you should try to get it from the auction house itself. They may still have the seller of the horse on record. Depending on how long it has been since she had been purchased through the auction.

My mom bought two long yearlings that were obviously purebred arabians from an auction many years ago. She had tried to find out who had brought them in, but the auction house couldn't give her the information because they didn't want to be known (probably because they didn't want to be charged with starving the horses). My mom didn't care about reporting the condition of the horses, she just wanted papers on them. Many years later, we tried to get the info we wanted from the auction, but sadly it was one year too late. They kept the records for several years, but not forever and they would have given the seller information later on, just not at the time of the auction. So we had two beautiful arabian mares that beat the registered purebreds in a breed halter class, judged by complete strangers based on breed standards...

It is worth a try :)

Is the lady doesn't remember the name of the guy who she bought her from, you are probably completely out of luck. Maybe she remembers where he lived, did he have a breeding operation, or something else that would point you in the right direction.

I have seen people advertise registered or registerable horses for sale for a smaller amount if you bought them "without papers" and for more if you wanted them with their papers. Other times you get papers with the horse, but they were never signed by the right people in the right places and just traveled around with the horse from one owner to the next...
