Looking at some show halters/headstalls, which do you like?

I wanted to get a new headstall and halter for some local showing over the summer. I've been fishing around face book for a few days and came up with these options. I'm not looking to spend an arm and a leg, but I like quality stuff because they hold their value!

Here is my horse and the saddle I'm trying to match:

Halters:

This one is said to be a Big Horn, though I saw the yearling sized one of this exact halter and it was listed as a Kathy's. $100

This one is $125, no brand but said to be nice. Missing a rivet in the nose band which is "why it's so cheap".

Again, said to be "higher end". Leather looks decent up close. $130

Now for headstalls. There was a couple others I was looking at, but I can't find them now.

I really like this one, but I'm "second in line" for it. Whatever's happened to first person with cash gets it? Anywho, it's a Billy Royal $125 and reins come at an additional price.

These may be a bit more then I want to spend, left is $185 right is $175. Left is said to be marked "alpaca silver" (whatever that means) and the right one is Billy Royal with blue stones.

I like the first and second halter (leaning more toward the first, though) and the last headstall (the Dale Chavez). I do like that first headstall, but since there's someone else "in line" for it, I wouldn't get my hopes up.

I don't mind if the halter doesn't match my saddle, it only has to match the horse!

I agree, I think I like the Dale Chavez head stall the best too! It seems reasonably priced, well taken care of and the closest match to my saddle.

I like the Dale Chavez headstall best also, except for the fact that it is a one ear.
Opps, see you bought it!
Hope it works for you, but one ear bridles, are notorious for coming off, and why the fashion of one ear headstalls was replaced by two ear head stalls, for the most part
I know I wound up in the hitching ring,a few times, with my horse either just shaking that one ear bridle off, or rubbing it off , very easily, on a front leg, needing to quickly fix it, before my class!
I do like the brown Chavez show halter, for your horse's color

I think first headstall is gorgeous. The thin/beaded look is really flattering on a horse with a pretty little head like your horse seems to have :)
I'd be wary of people who say halters are a "nice brand" but do not offer a brand name to go with it, especially if you're buying online and can't feel the leather/see it in person before you buy. For that reason I would go with the first show halter (which I also think is the prettiest!).

Really? I've never had a problem with the one ear headstall coming off. Actually, the only time I've had a problem is with a snaffle while my horse was acting like a total dipstick. Does two ears actually prevent it from falling off? I couldn't imagine the second ear would make much of a difference.

So my halter shows up today. Of course the post office leaves it on my theaving neighbors doorstep! I run over grab the package and open it up. The halter looks small, but it's adjusted to the smallest settings. I make it bigger and if still doesn't looks very large. I contact the seller and she says its weanling size :( and swears that's what the ad said. Needless to say I'm very disappointed and stuck with a halter I won't be able to use and will probably go threw the ringer reselling.
