I'm too happy and just had to share with horsey people. Lucky was taught by his first owners to free lunge and respond to visual cues. His last owner showed me how to do it and he did great for her. I've tried a couple times and he will stop and trot but wouldn't turn and go the other direction for me. I haven't tried in a couple weeks and have been riding instead.
When I got out to the barn today it looked like rain so I decided to give this free lunging stuff one more try instead of riding as I knew it'd pour as soon as I tacked him up. And he listened! He did everything I asked even turned for me multiple times and never lost focus on me :) I think he may be starting to respect me! Its dumb, I know, but I feel like we finally broke through a wall.
Anyone want to share their breakthrough stories?
