Does lungeing build muscles in a horse?

So long as you're actually working them and not just letting them run around on a circle. Letting them run around will get them fitter, but it won't build the muscle. If you put them in a lunge roller or set up some trot poles and elevate them a little after a while that will start building muscle. Make sure your horse isn't pulling himself along with his front end and is actually pushing himself along with his hind.
