Later, we humbly bowed our heads to receive the invisible Olympic medals we awarded each other: gold for my sister, silver for me. At bedtime, we read about horses.
"We thought the best book ever written was 'Jill Enjoys Her Ponies'. All this happiness came to an abrupt halt when I was 7 and our parents bought us a living, breathing pony. Bobby was 4 years old, with a dirty white coat, the build of a soccer ball and the soul of Charles Manson."

LOL!! That made my day and very possibly tomorrows day as well
I was the only one in my family besides cousins and aunt and my dad that loved horses. They lived in a whole other state, but one year I visited and they had given me this toy horse that moved. It would run, whinny, rear, and was rather fluffy. So I played with this horse through the day and night it came EVERYWHERE with me. At one point its leg went a little lame....When it reared it would topple to the side and when it ran...well it ran much like my horse does now
LMAO. So I had to strategically tie a rubber band around its leg. Eventually I got older and I passed my lovely pony on to someone else who loved it even with it being lame and bald bc I groomed it all the time....
