    Magazines Query

    Hi all
I am from Australia and looking to buy my girlfriend (turning 20) a subscription to a magazine but I'm at a loss which would be the best one.
She's got a horse, but he's getting a bit old now. She's had him for years.

    What do you suggest?

    Thanks for your help
    ~ Iordan

I love HorseDeals!! So if she is looking to buy a horse...

I also used to read The Horse Magazine and Hoofs and Horns.

Maybe get her an import from the US or UK, they have some pretty cool magazines.

Yeah I was looking into the horse magazine, their website is terrible! How good is their magazine?

I was looking into 'Equus' or 'Horse and Rider' from overseas... any experience with those?

Equus and Horse Illustrated are good all around horse magazines. Horse and Rider is Western focused. Practical Horseman is my personal favorite, but it's purely English. If she's into Dressage, Dressage Today is great.

I get horse and rider. I find that its entertaining and gives you food for thought. It also gives practical advice and from time to time they have good traing tips and articles. They also have a good website. There are of course down sides...some months I feel that it has nothing to offer but fluff...other months I pour over the pages time and again.

If she's into western riding I think it is a good all around magazine...not to specialized yet not all fluff either. And importing a mag would be kinda neat too.

I want to give you pat on the back for thinking "out of the box". IMO its a really sweet gift.
