Making your own haynet...

What should I make it out of? O.o

I need to make a hay net as the sun is shining, the birds are singing, the weathers fantastic and it's time to clean sheaths (the joys of having boys). I like to associate the experience with pleasant things like eating hay. Plus is really helps my dudes relax.

So...suggestions? I figure some sturdy rope will do. I'll buy one eventually...but I'm one of those make-your-own-stuff nerds.

I would try some flat nylon rope about 1/4" maximum; 1/8" would probably be better. Flat because it holds a knot better.
