Many of you may remember a previous thread of mine. http://www.horseforum.com/horse-talk/what-would-you-pay-mare-124429/

Fast forward a few months, circumstances change. The mare is now officially mine.

I've kept this under wraps for the past few weeks (I've been just DYING to post this thread) but I was not sure everything would fall into place. (Convincing my dad I need a new horse while we have a baby due in March...) He's still not happy about it, but knows I'm paying for vet, farrier, hay, bedding, grain, entry fees etc for my other mare and my lease mare.

I will be sending her to a trainer in about 10 days. She's still "green" under saddle. Just doesn't have the buttons that I would like. I could train her myself, but, I'd love professional training under her. Plus, I can get some lessons while she is there to improve my riding as well.

I'm renaming her Rumor. I thought Bitty was just too...childish for how elegant of a mare that she is. She is 5 years old, will turn 6 in March.

I am very excited...But without further ado...Here are PICTURES!

Wow, Thank you.

Thank you everyone. I'm pleased with her. She's such a sweetie too. Very, in your pocket. Wants to please, is super curious, just hasn't been exposed to much. Which will definitely change...

TexasGal, There will be many many updates and pictures!

The homecoming was very...uneventful. She loaded right in my trailer. A 3 place enclosed slant. Rode well on the 5 minute drive home. LoL. She unloaded great. I took her in the barn (my horses were inside eating breakfast) and she met them all. No squealing or fussing. She lowered her head and cocked a foot relaxing as I was holding onto her just 3 minutes after being in the barn. I led her around the pasture and she did well. Unhooked her in her section and grabbing Chilly to be her buddy.

Chilly is like...BFF's with her now. She's so funny. She gets along with everyone. When I let Avalanche in with them (mares are together, geldings in another section for now) Chilly wouldn't let Avalanche near her. Too funny! Even though Rumor and Avalanche have lived together for years. Goofy girls!

Thank you!

I can't wait to give her a bath and clean her up really good. She needs a little bridle path. I know she is genetically brown, but she's so sunbleached right now, it's kind of yucky. Next year I'm going to try and keep her really dark.

I've never had a horse with such a thick and long forelock before. It's going to be so much fun to play with!

I got new picture of Rumor today. I clipped her muzzle and bridle path...Finally. She looks so good. I rode her at a walk/trot after grooming her. And then her got her first bath in...years. 3 years? 4 years? Ever?

She did so great. You'd never know she hasn't been consistently worked over the past couple of years. She such a sweetheart. Loves to be pet and rubbed on. She stood great for her bath. Her tail was SUPER dry, so I slathered it in conditioner and let it soak. The dogs were splashing around in the pool behind her, carrying the hose away, barking, playing ball, and none of that phased her.

She also has not been ridden in a bit since...last fall. Previous owner was riding her in a hack because she would "toss her head" She had her teeth floated. And whenever he tried putting the bit in, she'd fuss about it, so he gave up and put her in a hack. I put her in a nice fat lightweight snaffle today and she didn't fuss at all. Played around with it when I first put it in, but nothing after that. She was light and responsive under saddle in her mouth. (Leg responses need some work)

I'm very impressed and loving my new addition. :D

By the way, the last picture of her wet, is the color she usually is. When she's not majorly bleached out by the sun.
