It totally depends on the horses! Some horses are really freaked out by minis. Don't ask me why, maybe to them they smell like a horse but don't look like one? I don't know. And sometimes the bigger horse can be a nasty bully to the mini, which can get very dangerous for the miniature involved.
I have one horse in with two minis, myself. And they get along fantastically well. But my previous gelding would bully them and so I had to keep them separated.
