    Unhappy Montana left :(

Montana left today at around 2:15ish.
He walked right onto the trailer. He was quite nervous and was shaking (once he was loaded up). He pooped quite a few times too. Poor guy. He'll be ok.

It was very bittersweet seeing him go and everything. On one hand, my 21st birthday gift from my hubby was leaving...the horse that brought my confidence back up was leaving, but on the other hand, he much prefers western to english and the trails to arena work. So we weren't really cut out for each other. And now he gets to be a western trail horse. I know he'll love it.

Gem and Vega were not upset at all. In fact they did a lap around the pasture. Vega was cantering, Gem was trotting. Then they just continued to eat grass. Never said goodbye, never batted an eyelash at the fact that there was a trailer there and that when we left, Montana did too.

His other horse buddies all said their goodbyes, even the cows had something to say.

I didn't cry, though I know I'm going to later today/tonight and definitely when I go back for the next few times when I no longer see him coming up to the fence, or trying to get just another cookie out of me.

He is such a silly boy. I am certainly going to miss him.

    Oh my I'm soooo sorry!!

I know exactly how you feel! Atleast he's going to a good home and you'll have less to worry about while you start a family. I hope all continues to go well and I'll keep you in my prayers.

(((hugs))) At least you know he is going to a good home where he will enjoy his job more. It is hard to part with a friend but sometimes it is for the best.

I do agree that it is very hard, but I feel I would have been selfish if I would have kept him as my english horse. I did this for him, whether he realizes it or not. And I guess that's why I'm not overly upset over him leaving, because I did what was best for him and not for me.

Aw I am sorry *hugs* Just try to remember this is what is best for you both, even though it is hard. *superhugs*

I'm sorry hon :( You did the right thing though. Doesn't make it hurt less, of course :(

Hugs to you. You put his well being first, and he'll be back at what he loves. That's what's truely important. Not easy, but the right thing.

Thanks everyone! This has made me feel better about the whole thing

Sorry! Sometimes it's for the best. Next time though remember that English and Western riding are the same thing. The only thing different is the tack and what you wear.
