He walked right onto the trailer. He was quite nervous and was shaking (once he was loaded up). He pooped quite a few times too. Poor guy. He'll be ok.
It was very bittersweet seeing him go and everything. On one hand, my 21st birthday gift from my hubby was leaving...the horse that brought my confidence back up was leaving, but on the other hand, he much prefers western to english and the trails to arena work. So we weren't really cut out for each other. And now he gets to be a western trail horse. I know he'll love it.
Gem and Vega were not upset at all. In fact they did a lap around the pasture. Vega was cantering, Gem was trotting. Then they just continued to eat grass. Never said goodbye, never batted an eyelash at the fact that there was a trailer there and that when we left, Montana did too.
His other horse buddies all said their goodbyes, even the cows had something to say.
I didn't cry, though I know I'm going to later today/tonight and definitely when I go back for the next few times when I no longer see him coming up to the fence, or trying to get just another cookie out of me.
He is such a silly boy. I am certainly going to miss him.
