Monty Roberts online uni

Iv recently been watching alot of Monty Roberts clips online, Iv read articles and Im on his mailing. I find his work and techniques extermely interesting, so I was thinking of joining his online university, it'd be a great help for working with my own horses, but theres only one girl registered in Ireland that has done his course so I think thered be a great opportunity for work.. but before I do anything I was just wondering has anyone on here done the course/met him/had him train their horse etc etc .. any feedback welcomed

I signed up for the online uni and have found a ton of ideas that I use with my haflinger. He has a section on presenting a stirrup when I am standing on a mounting block so I don't have to keep moving the darn thing around and it's been a life saver. Now if I have to get down for any reason on a trail, I can find a rock, log, or anything else, stand on it, click to him, and he will move sideways to me to give me a stirrup.

I have also used the join up and the long lining lessons. I am impressed with the small step videos he presents and he always posts a new one every week. I know some people don't care for him as a person or a trainer but I think some of his techniques are worth trying. I have had good luck with them so far.

Hope that helps.

The problem with Monte Roberts has never been his training but the story he tells of his personal life. Many, many people, including his own brother, refute the harshness he claims that his father used on him and on horses.

As for his methods, I like a lot of them.

You might get more responses on the Natural Horsemanship section. Natural Horsemanship

I personally do not care for the man at all. He just gives me the creeps when I watch him. A man in love with himself and completely full of himself. He claims to be the horse whisperer, and that the book and movie were about him. They were actually inspired by Buck Brannaman.

Thanks for the replys I read a comment he'd made about the horse whisperer film, that it was based on him. Never really gave it a second thought tbh. Am more interested in how he works with horses, youll always get people that are abit odd or know their great at something. I think whats really set my mind on it is that I saw a video of him working with a horse that had every single bad habit as one of mine and within 2days the horse was like a lamb! If I had an ounce of his abilities Id be well happy! Il try posting the OP in the natural horsemanship section as well, see what other folks have to say..
