The most frustrating horse search.... ever.

I have been having such a hard time finding a horse to purchase. I found one that I fell in love with, spent a week with, and he failed his pre purchase exam. Then I found about 4 or 5 horses I really liked, contacted them, and they were already sold. (Even though the ad didn't say that. Argh.) Now I found one I like, AQHA Gelding and the guy tells me the horse is 14.7 hands WHAT THE HECK!!! I emailed him saying "There is no such thing as 14.7 hands. Do you mean 15.3?"

I probably offended him, since he is a "trainer" and probably knows everything. I bet I wont hear back. Ergh.

I never thought I'd have such a hard time finding a horse! :(

If you stop searching so hard, the right horse will come along.

I believe every person and every animal that come into our lives, come into our lives for a reason - to teach us something. Everything is meant to happen, nothing is accidental.

So what is meant to happen, will happen.

These horses you looked at, and didn't work out - was because they were not meant to be yours. They were not meant to be in your life - but the one that is, could still be doing what it needs to be doing with his/her current owner, and is not ready to be yours yet.

Or, maybe you're not ready to have him/her in your life yet.

Just slow down, relax and take your time. The horse you are meant to be with, will show up when it's ready.

That guy emailed me back and said that it was a typo, he meant to say 14.2. Ergh.

Well just go along with it and go see him then if you do get him you'll know his true height

14.2 is WAY too small for me. I need something at LEAST 15hh, preferable over 16hh. He is over an hour from me, so if he is too small, I don't want to waste either of our time. And plus, if he has been the "trainer's" personal horse, and the "trainer" doesnt even know how to tell a horse's height, do I really want a horse from a wannabe trainer?

Be grateful you get the chance to be frustrated looking for a horse. Some of us will never get to own a horse.

I wanted a super flashy paint... I ended up with a breeding stock paint. She's incredible.

I wanted a flashy QH... my girl is sorrel with a white blaze... pretty basic... and she's the love of my life.

Sometimes what we want isn't what we fall in love with.

I noticed you seem to be only looking at grey geldings, and one grey mare. Maybe if you broadened your color search a bit, you'd fall in love with that perfect horse. :]

I had to let go of my color standards to find my dream horses. I now own, in addition to my favorite girls, two flashy QH mares, grulla and palomino, and they just aren't the same. They don't have as much personality as my other girls.

I am not set on a grey horse, but it does seem that the only ones I am attracted to are greys. :-/

I have 3 new prospects to go see on Thursday. A 15hh Black QH Gelding, a 16.1hh Bay TB/Percheron, and a 17.3hh Black Percheron. None are grey! Lol!

Ponyboy, I am greatful that I am searching for a horse, but I have worked long and hard to be able to afford a horse. I make a lot of sacrifices but never regret them a day in my life.

I suppose that's a coincidence then, ha ha.

I just remember knowing EXACTLY what I wanted in the horse market, and falling in love with EXACTLY the opposite...

The two times I bought "what I wanted," I didn't get the results I wanted.

Ugh!!! I know how ya feel. My sister and I just went through that trying to find her a good horse. If I had a dollar for every add that said stuff like...used to be a 4h horse or has been all over trail riding or great family horse that turned out to be bull. I would suggest putting the word out to your friends and family, the local vets and farriers. I wouldnt slack up on your search...the more you look at the better the chances of you finding just the right horse. We learned a lot just by going and looking...such as show up a little early (maybe 20 or 30 minutes) and make the owner ride first (trust me...you really wanna stick to this rule). We met a lot of horses that behaved very badly...but the good news is, my sister has a great horse now that is just perfect for her....and you will find that perfect horse too, so don't give up!
