I rode my horses the first day at any new barn. If you trailer to a show or for a trail ride you don't give them several days to get used to it before you ride. I did ride with someone else on the trails just for a little security in case there was anything scary and spooky that I do not know about, but other than that it was business as usual.
You can hand walk them around the new place, let them munch grass, 'meet' the other horses and spend time getting the general lay of the land. First 2 barns I hand walked them around the pasture so they learned where their boundaries are. Current barn did not do this as they were put right in with other horses ( worked fine, by the way.. although I know this is not the way most barns do it... ) and I was not wanting to get in the middle of any pecking order scuffles. But if you can, this is a good way to introduce them to the new place as well.
Your new barn sounds great! Enjoy!
