My First Day at the Riding School

oh boy did I have a good day :)

First bit of news :) im now officially registered for my intro coach course which will be followed by my level 1 coaching certification yaaay

Second bit :) I have a new project horse there are the school horses and also the owners horses. She has the coaches work/train her horses. There is this new ottb there called harley. He's 16.2hh and sweet as they come. Until you ride him lol he's been off the track for a couple of years but the previous people did nothing with him so he is still very much a racehorse  I have to give him some credit though. He is pretty responsive to the bit and has lovely strides. He has a huge smooth trot and a nice rocky canter but he gets really pully in the canter. He is really unbalanced especially on the right lead but I guess you can't expect much less from an ottb :)

I think he has really good potential. He's a bit downhill, has a long back but that's to be expected from a tb, needs lots of muscle and he's a tad long in the pasterns but otherwise he is quite nice :) definitely my favourite so far even though he made my riding assessment a huge chore for me lol but I think they planned it that way ;)

Some pics of harley:

After my assessment a lady and her daughter turned up thinking they had a lesson but they didnt and the lady was really snooty and cranky so the boss decided to let me do the lesson. So I got my first lesson in :) every lesson I do I acrue points towards getting lessons for myself. I should be able to get 1-2 lessons a week.

So yeah I love it so far :) can't wait to get some work in on harley. Might help me deal with jarred better too :d

That's awesome Jazzy! Sounds like you had a great time!

I'm thinking this ottb will really help you with Jarred. :)

I wish you the best of luck, and in your spare time there, take tons of pictures of all the pretty horses

Jazzy that's wonderful to hear!! He's adorable, & I agree- it'll definitely help you with Jarred.
I'm sure you'll do fine, that's also great about the lessons!

Ride more, worry less.

he is adorable! You just want to squeeze his little cheeks ;)

It will also help because I will be able to take jarred there and get some of my lessons on him which I think will be the best thing that has ever happened to me and jarred lol

Appy - ill take as many pics as I can ;) I got a couple of the school today. Not many cause I didnt have a lot of time for scenery shots lol but I got a couple of the old stables which are now the tack sheds and feeds sheds and office and they are building a new barn down the back soon. And I just got a couple of shots of the small arena that we use for beginner or lunge lessons or first time jumper lessons.

Besides this there is an olympic arena and a large showing jumping area which they are also going to build a small x country course on. Ill get more pics when I can do a walk around :)

just an update :)

Well I might not be spending as much time as I though working with harley barley (yes I have given him a stupid baby like nick name ;)) as I thought. There is another girl who rides him as well and I think she isnt overly keen on the idea of me working with him as well cause she has decided he is hers and blah blah blah lol its no biggie. The BO said she still wants me to do some work with him but the other girl really wants him to herself

So instead of rocking the boat I decided to work with another horse instead. His name is jack. Another ottb  he's not too bad. Very heavy on the forehand and has the worse canter in the history of canters lol but I can see some potential there

So this is jack. He is by far not the prettiest horse ever and because he is new he also needs muscle etc but he's not too bad :)

Im really enjoying it so far. I've done a fair few lessons now and am having the time of my life :)

Glad to hear you are enjoying your work! 8)

Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Don't be afraid or discouraged by the size of the task, for the Lord God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.
