My goals for the next 10 years..

Ive been doing alot of thinking.. and not sure that I actually want to give up riding. This is my goal for down the road. First I'm going to go to school, get a good job, with a decent income, thinking about teaching art. I would like to take riding lessons for 3 years or so, THEN I will be looking to purchase a horse, would like to board, atleast for awhile, that way I could ride with others and continue with lessons and what not. My DREAM horse would be a Rocky Mountain mare or gelding, gentle, with ALOT of trail experience, beginner friendly, preferrably around the age of 10 years of age. SHORT 14.3 hands and under. Awesome, but slow gait ;) Well bred, sound mind and willing. I would love to have a Chocolate because I absolutely love that color and always wanted one in that color, hopefully by that time will be able to afford one. Other colors would be great though, buckskin, palomino or roans. I'm getting ready to fill out the FASFA forms to go to school to be an art teacher. You think all of this is attainable? ;)

Yeah, I know. It's a stretch. 10 years is a long time but I've decided that before plunging back into the chore of horse ownership I want to be financially secure first. As of right now having the mini is fine but it's not my complete goal in life. I'd like to have a trailer, would like to show and dad isnt financially stable enough to support that. I know this. I would like to go to school for Art or History, become a history or art teacher, preferrably history and work toward's a masters, land a job as a college professor. I know this is down the road but doesnt hurt to start thinking about it now.

I've always liked the saying, "if you fail to plan, you plan to fail". Sounds like you have a very realistic and workable plan lined up for yourself. Write it down, if you haven't already, and revisit it to see if you are on course or need to adjust. Good luck to you.

I am currently in University for a bachelor of arts degree with a major in history....all i'm going to say is be prepared for lots and lots of reading and tons of papers! I'm having a hard time juggling work, riding, and school. Your plan makes complete sense to own a horse after you are financially stable.
