:'( my poor pony.

last night my mini ( that I've posted on here before , bad/weird back legs) was killed last night. I don't know what killes him. I feel so bad. I think I'll have to get rid of all my ponies.

First, a bunch of the barn cats started disappearing.
Then one morning my mom found one of her pigs still alive, but the top of its neck slashed to the bone.
Next (about a month ago) I had my stud pea penned with the mini (Freddy ) that died last night. Pea has never gone through a fence. One night he went through the fence from ghe pen he was in with freddy. Freddy was small and with his bad legs couldn't go through the pen if tried. Im guessing pea being bigger and stronger, spazing scared whatever off the first time.

Now last night freddy was with another mini gelding named spirit.
Whatever it is killed Freddy. Slashes just like the pig.

This is real scary cause our barn is right by the house. Something is brave enough to come up around a bunch of dogs and people.

Im guessing the time it was messing with pea and freddy it had picked him out and came back.

The cuts are huge but there is barely any blood. Same with the pig. Big slash on neck but no blood anywhere except on the pig itself.

Vet said the cuts look like from a big cat.
But there is goats next door and baby cows down the road. Why would it hunt in such a populated place? Grandma suggested maybe even some sadistic people.

Not sure what to do :(

I'm so sorry! I bet it was a mountain lion, or one of it's "cousins" Can you call animal control, or even parks and wild life, to see if they can set traps for it? Good luck with your other livestock!

My first thought was actually horrible people... Is there any one you know that holds a grudge/dislikes you or your family?

Either that, or as the vet said... Big cats
Hope all works out for you :(

Is the large gash the only wound?
If so I would suspect a person.
Also would be odd if a big cat killed and then left the body. They kill for food as do wolves and coyotes. Dogs will kill for fun but a body is usually torn up more than that.

I am so sorry this is happening to you and your animals. I went through YEARS of torment with a neighbor who would not keep his many dogs penned up. We finally had to take him to court and it seems to have controlled him for the time being...but sooner or later....I expect more problems with him and his dogs. The dogs were killing goats.

Nuisance; im in rockdale. About 45 mins from austin.

Candycanes; I don't know. I know me and my mom have no people who would Do that.

My sister might I guess. But they aren't even her animals. How stupid would that be.
If I find out its a person they will get the same treatment as my pony.

This was my thought. I've personally the aftermath of a mountain lion run-in and there'd be more than one gash, or more than even a few gashes. Also, if it had been a predator, you would have heard something (either the horses going berserk or the predator vocalizing). As much as I hate to say it, this attack sounds more human than animal.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. Losing an animal you love is never easy, especially when it's in such horrible circumstances.

I got halfway through your post and that is a cougar, plain and simple. Don't feel bad, be afraid. It needs killed. After reading the rest, it still sounds like a cougar to me.you need to get a shotgun and wait for it, if it turns out to be a person, the gun will still be handy. Stick a shotgun in their face and I garuntee they will not bother you again. And a black panther and a cougar are the same thing, it's a mutant color variation and they are not actually back, they are a deep spotted or marbelec brown. And yes, they do kill for fun, just like a house cat will play with a toy.

On the
Pig yea, the pony had more though. It was in a stall in the barn by the house. Parents went out so it coulda been scared off. The dogs went crazy.

Im just thinking thatd be one hellofa fast person but anything is possible
