    If I ever need an animal named, I am coming to you... Awesome suggestions.

    Arlo (because of Guthrie) seems a cool re-name for Blaze.

    Beau, Tanner, Garth, Gunnison, Weston and Arlo (Arlo really is a neato name for the guy, I agree with weblevin.)

    In regards to names and horses recognizing them, I truly believe that some horses stick to their names like glue while others just learn to adapt. There's the case of Kid, a chestnut gelding who is ridiculously stubborn. You could call him and try to train him to any name under the sun, my friend spent a good couple of months trying to do so, but it didn't matter what she bribed him with or used, that horse wouldn't respond to any name other than Kid. Then there's Angel, a paint mare that's had around five names and has learned to respond to any of them. Give her a few treats and use it around her constantly and she'd eventually take to it. Horses are individuals too. :)

    After months I gave up on hoping for a response with a changed name and went back to what he knew.

    Yet I can't even come up with names for my own animals. I have a cat that went without a name for 7 years because I couldn't think of anything.

    ha ha ha

    We've had funky names for our dogs;

    Francis Asbury Tarkenton 10 (AKA Tark) was a Doberman
    Talltimbers Romulus (AKA Rom) was a Rhodesian Ridgeback
    Gadico's Androcles (AKA Andy) is our current Rhodesian

    Our horse is Good Terms Walker (AKA Chuck)
