So how many of you had chosen to change a horses bane after purchasing it? Barn name not registered name.

I wanted to rename Norman when we first got him but my mom wouldn't let me. X) I kind of wish I'd changed Victor's name, too. But it's a little late now.

Thanks BarrelracingArabian.... you have yourself quite a beautiful girl... always loved arabians graceful and spirited .... there is nothing quite like them... no other horse has that awesome head that they ever watch the 13th warrior? the hero in that movie rides an Arabian looks a lot like yours. they make fun of her cause she is much smaller than the drafts everyone else is riding, but she shows em what for !!! you should watch it just to see that.

For some reason the people around me when I had first gotten my mare always said it was bad luck to change the horse's barn name. Just a silly superstition but I left my mare with her very uncreative name "Blue". Why name a VERY RED sorrel Blue? Two blue eyes...cliche? yes, but I still loved her haha

I've always heard the "it's bad luck to change a horse's name" line...

All of my guys came with their names, I changed Beau's show name and almost changed his barn name, but couldn't think of a really good one... plus, Beau grew on me and it's totally fitting for him.

My daughter did rename Citrus.... his previous barn name was Friday.... she picked Citrus.... I said no and tried to convince her that Friday was a fantastic name...she said okay it is either Citrus or Brownie... I said no way am I naming a brown horse Brownie- so not original...I tried one last time explaining that Citrus was really for a palomino..........she stuck to her guns..... I am glad she did because now I only see him as Citrus.

Her orginal name for a horse, when we used to talk about the day we would get one, was Jaws (because of their big jaws).

Most of mine came to me without a name so I got to choose. Those that already had a name, I just left it because supposedly it is bad luck to change a horse's name (but then again, I don't have any with really crappy names).

These are the horses I have that came with their names:
Well, I guess those are the only 2 LOL.

Always remember that feeling of looking at a big, open country over the ears of a good horse, seeing a new trail unwind ahead of you, and that ever-spectacular view from the top of the ridge!!! Follow my training blog:
