need ideas for fundraiser

Does anyone here do fundraising for rescues? I have a friend that does rescue minis to big guys. Of course a lot of these guys come in severely underweight or with medical issues. I helped with last fundraiser, Tractor Supply donated space and we did pony rides. Made a couple of hundred but that's hardly a drop in tbe feed bucket when you need specialty feeds.
Any ideas? Have a tentative date set up with Tractor Supply to have another fundraiser the last weekend of this month. Need help.

Have an "Open Day" with pony rides, face painting, BBQ (ask a local butcher and bakery to donate sausages and bread, then borrow someone's BBQ so it doesn't really cost you), and ask places to lend things like cotton candy machines and slushy machines. They're usually happy to do it in return for a bit of publicity, like a sign for their business saying they helped out or whatever. See if you can convince a local band to play live music. Do a big speech talking about the work you guys do and how you really need donations; not just cash, but gear, feed, etc.

My friend and I were just discussing this on a poker run for my nephew. We thought we should have one with mini driving and big horses if someone wanted to go on a short ride, and just have a poker run set up in a small town with the proceeds to go to the local mini rescue. So much a hand and a chance to make new horse friends.

It's almost Halloween. You could do something for that. Haunted house, hay rides, etc..

This won't work for your day at Tractor Supply, but our driving club put on a raffle of a Wheelbarrow full of Liquor. The club bought the wheelbarrow, about $60 and the tickets about $20 and all the members donated a bottle of something, either from their bar supply, unopened of course, or something new. We went to some local liquor stores and they either donated or club members bought items at a super reduced price. When I was buying the wheelbarrow I was talking to people in line at the checkout and sold 7 tickets.

That is the beauty of this raffle because it doesn't exclude anyone except those under 21. You don't have to be "horsey" to buy a ticket. We made almost $1000. The club might have to subsidise the liquor if there is not to much good stuff in the wheelbarrow though. But anything is welcome, openers, coolers, icebuckets, beverage napkins, shakers etc.
