New Horse Already! Meet my dappled darling.

Meet Fancy! I posted the other day asking for advice on which one to pick, between Abby and Fancy, and with advice from you guys (and any other horsey people I could think to ask) I picked Fancy, so here she is!

She's a 5 year old quarter horse, maybe with papers, the barn owner is trying to get hold of her old owners for me. They couldn't afford her board and owed him quite a bit, so they gave her to him, and now she's mine. She hasn't been ridden in over a year until I got on her Sunday, and she did better than I expected. She doesn't know how to neck reign and is stubborn as a mule, going so far as to crowhop when I try to get her to do more than walk, but her old owners were apparently pushovers that gave up on her for riding and tried to make her a broodmare, but the foal she had in December didn't make it. But, other than that she's got spirit, good movement, and she's built like a tank, the perfect western game horse in my eyes.

She needs some exercise to get some muscle tone and definitely a lot more training, but she'll be a good project while my little weanling is growing up and hopefully a good competitor. Hopefully I'll be able to spend all day tomorrow working with her in the round pen and scrubbing her down to see how pretty she really is beneath all the dirt.

This is Turbo, a big, solid boy also for sale. Wish I had the guts to get on him, but everyone I talk to said he's thrown even the more experienced riders, and his mood changes from pleasant to bucking for even the tiniest reason, like, he'd rather turn right, not left. He's sweet on the ground though! I just thought I'd share because he's handsome. :p

Congratulations on your new horse!

I wouldn't be too worried about her ridden problems just yet, you might be suprised how much regular work will improve a horse. I like her, she looks sweet, and she's a good age to go on with :)

Thanks everyone. I'm not too worried about her riding issues, but I'm going to try and get her a new saddle once I have a few dollars put away, I don't think her saddle fits as well as I'd like, and I'm not too sure about trying her bareback just yet.

Got some new pictures today!

She has such a soft expression that I don't normally see in mares.

Dapples do add an extra touch of supercute, I think. I'm normally a paint person, but I make exceptions for anything with dapples.
