She's a 5 year old quarter horse, maybe with papers, the barn owner is trying to get hold of her old owners for me. They couldn't afford her board and owed him quite a bit, so they gave her to him, and now she's mine. She hasn't been ridden in over a year until I got on her Sunday, and she did better than I expected. She doesn't know how to neck reign and is stubborn as a mule, going so far as to crowhop when I try to get her to do more than walk, but her old owners were apparently pushovers that gave up on her for riding and tried to make her a broodmare, but the foal she had in December didn't make it. But, other than that she's got spirit, good movement, and she's built like a tank, the perfect western game horse in my eyes.
She needs some exercise to get some muscle tone and definitely a lot more training, but she'll be a good project while my little weanling is growing up and hopefully a good competitor. Hopefully I'll be able to spend all day tomorrow working with her in the round pen and scrubbing her down to see how pretty she really is beneath all the dirt.
This is Turbo, a big, solid boy also for sale. Wish I had the guts to get on him, but everyone I talk to said he's thrown even the more experienced riders, and his mood changes from pleasant to bucking for even the tiniest reason, like, he'd rather turn right, not left. He's sweet on the ground though! I just thought I'd share because he's handsome. :p
