    Talking New Horse! a Haflinger!

YEAH! So I convinced my husband that we HAD To have this Haflinger I saw for sale in Craigslit, lol. I didn't even know we HAD any Haflingers in Arkansas!

He was delivered this morning, papers will be sent later (long story, but I trust them). I am going back out in a minute to see if the fence charger is charged up and let him out in his new paddock. I'll take some pictures then.

His name was "Wesley", something about Westford or Westand in his papered name. That just didn't suit him at all, so we named him Ajax, after the Greek/Roman hero. He's about 14.1h and only 4yrs old, so I expect him to maybe grow a tad more and definitely fill out. I rode him yesterday and he did really well under my big rear! We bought him for the kids though, don't worry, I won't be riding him much ;). He's green broke and can drive too.

    Hehehehehehe, I am SOOOOO excited!

Here's a picture from his ad. It's not the greatest. I'll get more tonight!

Thanks! This is the first I have ever really been around or ridden. I have seen them at shows occasionally (when I lived in San Diego), but not in a long time and none out here in Arkansas.

Thanks everyone! I didn't get any pictures. A storm rolled through and it got dark QUICK. I'll try to get out and take pictures tomorrow afternoon or the next day. He's a lot more "red" than the photo above. He's not nearly as bleached out, but his coat is a bit dull. I'm hoping some good grass, Flax, and vitamins fixes that ;).

I think we decided Ajax was a bit too "rough" for him. I had forgotten the whole story on Ajax (the Greek hero). After reading it, we decided to nix that one, lol. So, his new official name is "Troy". I'm going to see about changing his papered name to W-whatever (his breeder/stallion) Gold of Troy (or something like that). There is a neat story behind the Gold of Troy and it really fits him and his personality.

Congrats :) With haffies, the seller has to send in the transfer of ownership, so it's normal you didn't get papers. They're also named a certain way: colts names have to start with the same letter as their sire, filly names have to start the same as their dams. So your boy is from the W stallion line (Mine's from the M). You can't change his registered name. From the AHS rules, "Name changes, except in the case of proven error, are not permitted."
    Enjoy your new boy! :)
