When we were still showing dogs, we used Cool Coats ALLL the time in the summer. Basically they are a coat that you get wet, ring out, and throw over the dog to keep them cool. The material holds the water in and keeps them from overheating. I was thinking I could make my own, since during the summer it's not uncommon for horses at shows to get hot.
I see some breathable sheets, but I haven't seen on using the material canine cool coats are made of. I was thinking I could make them in a throatlatch version, a full neck-coat, and then a body sheet size. I could also use the excess to maybe be halter-covers, because I know a lot of horses sweat behind their ears and on their noses, or sweat drips down the face. I could put velcro on to take on and off halters, and I could make squares of the stuff as washcloths. We used them all the time for last-minute show touchups with the dogs...And drool rags
So what do you guys think? I plan on making some for myself, but if you guys think it could be something that would do okay, I could make some custom ones for people.
