I'm not saying that your horse is not perfect in every way, only that he will not stay that way if all your knowledge is coming from strangers on the internet or people you talk to. Loving and caring for horses is a life long passion but they are not like big puppies that can learn while you learn. One of you has to know something to start with.

I am not saying that you need to give up a dream - only that you do not sound like you are any where near ready for the undertaking you have started. It is the horse that will end up suffering for it.

BTW, you said "he". Is he a gelding?

I'm not arguing with you, I'm just explaining why I'm right.

Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong.

It's not always what you say but what they hear.

They have great books out on minis as well as a web site called which will help in in finding resources.
I do know that minis can and tend to founder if on too much grass.

I have to mostly agree with iride. I don't want to steal your joy at all. I know exactly how you feel. It hasn't been that long ago when I acquired my first horse, so I know very well the feeling you have in your heart.

I also know that things are much more complicated than they seem when you get your first horse. I had so much fun with my horse for a while. I soon learned that I had been accidentally ruining my horse with pretty much everything I was doing with him. I did not learn that, though, until he became a huge problem.

Every single time you spend with your horse you are teaching him something. The thing is, if you don't know what you are doing, you will often be teaching them the bad stuff.

I don't think it is hopeless, though. It just depends on how much you are willing to spend on it. I think you need a trainer now. Have them show you the ropes and to help you deal with problems that may come up. You will be amazed at how much you learn.

I forgot to add...don't even bother with the trainer that just wants to work with the horse. It is a waste of money. Find someone who will work with you both.
